All this talk about Masuda going to Chicago made me think. Wouldn't it be interesting to have a region that had a town that was an urban ghetto? The surroundings would be dilapidated, houses/Pokemon Center would look run down. The NPCs would mostly be hoodlums and evil team gang members, and many of them will battle you if you talk to them. Similar to Pyrite Town on Colosseum (or maybe Po Town), but more rough. Would also be interesting to have it adjacent to a really nice town.

It would be nice to have something like that again. Po Town was ok but I'd like to see one where there's actually shops and shit, it's all just super run-down. And where the NPCs aren't literally all evil team members.
Maybe have corrupt cops and mayor who let all the crime slide for a cut of the profit or something, have the nurse at the Pokemon center look different and charge you to heal your Pokemon, move tutors for things like Beat-Up, Knock Off, etc., a shop selling TMs for Thief and Snatch, that sort of thing.
