WHY ARE THESE SO GOOD!?
Typhlosion's head looks so much better in this sprite, with the stiff ears & flat(er) face, it looks almost like a Vampire? where did the spriters go wrong? making them look like they have a horses face & buckteeth in the later sprites.

& not to mention Quilavas Gold & Silver sprites are downright fucking MENACING.
Completely red eyes & a devilish grin, then crystal comes along & made it look more like the version from the anime, if the games came out FIRST, then why not design the Pokémon around what it looked like in-game?
(because of stuff like gen-1 sprites) I know, I know.

Idea. If there are any good sprite editors in the thread, try reverse-editing some of the later gen Pokémon Shinies into GSC sprites! Normals are relatively easy but shinies are somewhat harder, given the limited color pallet of the GBC.

I remember Smeargle's shiny and normal palettes being reversed in Gen II, and it even extended to their N64/GC models. It was pretty weird to see a normal Smeargle as red in Colosseum, a Gen III game.

Could you do some later gen mons too, if that's okay? Can't really find any good renders of my favorite shiny.
Always liked it, since the color palette reminds me more of a spotted hyena. Ended up catching one in Platinum and using it in HGSS.

Whenever I recolor flames, it's hard to come up with a good color. Played around with it a bit, and 4 layers later, I'm not 100% happy with the flame but it's passable.
