Unfortunately its not so great defensive due to only resisting itself, sneaky pebbles, fightiing+rock+fire moves being very common and it doesn't help that avalugg( the very physically defensive wall thats supposed to stop physically attackers often loses to them in a 1vs1

Bug is pretty bad, too. Weak to fire and rock like ice, but also weak to flying (a somewhat popular type thanks to the prevalence of Earthquake), but at least it gets three resistances (grass - which isn't great, along with ground and fighting, which are pretty decent). The rock weakness is pretty bad on a type generally reserved for frail Pokemon, but just like with ice, bug has a few examples that are pretty great (notably Mega Scizor, Volcarona, Scolipede, Mega Pinsir, Mega Heracross, and the banned-to-ubers Pheremosa).

Like ice, bug is a glass cannon type, but unlike ice, bug has plenty of decent Pokemon to take advantage of that.

first, make a few more fast hard-hitting ice types. Like ice types with stat spreads similar to Infernape, Gengar, and Staraptor, less of those slow bulky things.

You can let the bulky Ice types be a little better by letting Ice resist Ground and maybe Dragon. I'd say just ground is probably enough.

Finally, let Hail boost the Physical Defense of Ice types the way Sandstorm helps Rock types SpD. This would help pokemon with Slush Rush switch in easier, as well as vastly improving the defense of Aurora Veil setters.
