I've been replaying each gen and this is what I have so far. I'm about to shit on Volkner in Platinum. I only used mons I hadn't used before with the exception of Feraligatr and Blastoise.

I'm doing a Dexnav (Hidden Ability) run in ORAS with mons that I feel would have fun hidden abilities to use in game. Right now, I have a Mightyena, Kecleon, Tropius, Ninetails and a Sandslash. Will probably replace the Sandslash with either a Xatu or a Glalie, and then when I catch Groudon, I'l hunt down a Adapability Skrelp. I also added some extra rules such as no items in battle.

All Vanilluxe needs for in game is Ice Beam/Icicle Spear and Flash Cannon. It's also a Long Time user of Eviolite. It does also have decent support moves like acid armor and mirror coat as well. Fire Steel and Water types tend to be rare in the late game as well. It buttfucks every gym it goes into as Ice slams Clay and Skyla, Flash Cannon beats down Brycen, and lol Iris/Drayden.

Indeed, limited choices aren't wholly bad since it means you can effectively have a team of 7 with a rotating spot. With that said, my Swalot has seriously fallen behind due to offering nothing but some bulk while having a lack of good moves outside of TMs (not using high-end ones like Giga Drain because I plan to clear the Battle Frontier on this save with an entirely new team), so it's been sat out for the Elite Four.

I did that last year, so I stole your template, but I stopped at gen 3. Then this year I did gen 5. So gen 4, 6 & 7 are kind of old. I'll probably do gen 4 soon.

Anyway, love your gen 1, 6/6, Nidoking and Parasect are perfection. Gen 2 is cool, though I don't really like Noctowl that much. Gen 3 is okay. FRLG is almost as good as RBY. DPP is great too.

It's the first game 6 have been available so I thought it'd be fun.
For a mono-Normal run they're the only Pokémon plus Tucannon and I used him a bit in my normal Sun run where I rotated about 20 Pokémon out until I decided on an E4 team.
You win the Bug/Flying by knowing what to switch in to revenge kill what just killed you. My Mothim had HP Dragon too so he was my Dragonslayer

Does your team develop throughout the game or do you plan it out ahead of time? I try to plan my team out ahead of time but my autism makes it difficult.

About to play through White 2 for the second time since it came out. Considering boxing my starter and just using 3 or 4 pokemon the whole time. I've never used a team of less than 6. In Sun I had 5 until Nebby which was about the least I've ever used.

Cinccino is the only one I have in mind for sure and I want the rest to be Pokemon I've never used. All gen 5. I don't know, I'll think of something.

i usually plan my teams out ahead of time but the plan almost always falls apart quickly. ill find something i had forgot about and suddenly get the urge to use it and once one member of the team has been changed, the whole thing falls apart

for me I tend to have ideas of mon's I want to use, but then I realize the team in my head was crazy, I need a guy who can learn cut, and I end up rearranging things to fit.
Like in my head I know I need a water mon who can surf, I need a flying guy who can learn fly, etc., but other than that I just catch what seems cool that I come along, and sort of try to come along specific mons that pique my interest.
But yeah I try and not re-use bros from previous playthroughs or anything, just because I always feel like I had my fun with them already, and theres so many pokemon out there. If I come across a shiny on a normal playthrough of a game, I'll try and turn it into an ace, but that has only happened once. In sun I found a shiny poliwag, so poliwrath became my ace pokemon for my sun playthroguh.
Also sometimes I'm like "huh I want to play around with X ability" so I'll find a slowpoke with regenerator, or catch a pelipper to auto set rain or whatever.
But I don't really plan a whole team ahead of time.
So I guess half I go after certain pokemon (sometimes abandoning ideas I had because no one could learn X move (currently this is cut in leaf green, >>33071167 is me)), and half I come across something and I'm like "yeah okay, lets do this".
