Dude just relax then. We all get anxious in new situations, but just being natural will help. Like, instead of trying to impress someone and going full retard, say hey to them once in a while or see if you share any interests if you ever want to talk to them. If not, don't think it's your fault or their fault if you don't click. Just be who you are to everyone but still be nice. I'm sure when you be more comfortable around others, the anxiety will go away. That way you don't over think things in a social situation and end up in a worse position. The first step is always the hardest, but you could build a group of friends pretty easily if you build that initial bond.
