GF Gen 8 discussions advance for the Switch and the progress is not the expected one yet. No decisions are made but I can share the strongest ones so far:
Starters:
The only plan is "all starters can beat each other"
Final evolutions would be :
Fire Electric
Water Ice
Grass Ground.
There is no final decion yet. What are your thoughts?
The new Pokemon type is always topic. But never agreed. It is planned to have another one weak to steel poison and ghost but strong against fairy and electric.

Gen 8 has probably been in development since 2015, when switch dev kits were sent out. They even talked about Pokémon bank on the nx in 2015
