My father know most of them and my mom is a Pokémaster. Both have been playing since I was a kid, and nowadays we compete with each other and see who compleates the Pokédex first and who has the most competitive team.

I was 5 when Gold Silver came out and he played Silver while I had Gold. He played a little of Sapphire and Diamond also.

Mom and Dad never payed much attention to Pokemon, so the only ones they know are pretty much the ones that are playable in Smash + some of the pokeball summons amidst a few exceptions, like Dragonite and Arcanine. Mom also recognizes "that elephant Pokemon (Donphan) that appeared in the beggining of that movie you watched so much as a kid".

Dad actually plays Smash Bros sometimes, even at his early 50's. He says he likes Charizard and Greninja.
