I'm mostly hoping for a rabbit. It could easily get Ground as a secondary type once fully-evolved. I feel like it has good design potential, too.

My second choice would be the sheep, especially if the evolution goes in the direction of a ram or goat-like creature. I'd love to see that.

I'm not sure what they would do for a horse, however, since we already have a fire horse with the Ponyta line. They'd need to do something interesting with it to make it distinct from that.

I suggested this in another thread, but I think an "Apollo" design theme would be good for a horse mon. Give it a golden color and have like a spartan crest instead of a mane, give it a chariot wheel pattern, make it Fire/Steel and a bunch of light-themed moves by levelup. Sounds nice to me.

He went to London too. This means nothing. Gen 8's region is pretty much confirmed to be based off of China. You'd have to be blind not to come to that conclusion based on all the hints they've shown so far. Ryuki, Drampa, Lana looks Chinese, Chinese language options, Marshadow looks Chinese.

Probably rabbit because it would be fast, and rabbits are cool (unless they look like Diggersby).
Fire sheep could be cool, beyond just being a Fire-type Mareep line. Imagine flammable wool and ram horns.
Fire snake sounds interesting design-wise, but it would have to be some time after Serperior.
Fire horse would just be a retread of Ponyta/Rapidash, but trying hard to differentiate itself.
Fire ox seems a little generic for my tastes just because it sounds hard to go beyond that in terms of design.

Also, that image annoys me because everything but Litten is using its stock Sugimori art.

I just had a great idea for the Gen 8 starters: make them vaguely similar to the Gen 1 starters in the same way a lot of Gen 5 pokémon were designed as regional counterparts to Gen 1 pokémon.
The Grass starter could be a toad with toadstools on its back, that just gets bigger in its second stage, but then its third stage is a beautiful bipedal frog prince.
The Fire starter could be a snake with a flaming tail, that gains arms in its second stage, then gains legs with flaming feet in its third stage.
The Water starter could be... fuck I don't know. Another kind of turtle would be pushing it, but any other reptile would look more like a counterpart to Totodile than to Squirtle. Maybe a marine iguana?

OP here, guess I'll comment on the results before this thread's archived.
I expected the rabbit to be high, but 38%? Man. There was a time it was like 52% on the poll, too.
Second place going to the snake seems reasonable; a lot of people here are fed up with humanoid fire starters, and they'd have to really fuck up badly to make a snake one.
The ox in third place also makes sense, considering all the neat stuff GF could do with a brazen bull or a Moloch thing.
I honestly expected the sheep to be higher, though. It was the lowest wanted on the poll for a while.
The least wanted overall was the horse, which is to be expected. Ponyta and rapidash do pretty much everything you could want out of a fire horse, besides maybe wings. It was tied for second for a while.

None of the species that the Pokemon are based on can truly live in water alone.

Okay /vp/ here's my attempt at a concept for a fire snake starter.

It's based on a combination of Cobras (The spitting kind), Rattlesnakes, Snake charmers, Nagas, and genies.

The last evolution uses it's "rattle" at the end of its tail as a balance to erect the upper half of it's body, and keep it balanced, and it's supposed resemble a genie lamp. It can spit venom to hypnotize and daze it's opponents, and can heat up this poison to the point where it can cause serve burns.

I have no idea for a type, maybe Fire/Poison or Fire/Psychic.

I feel like the only cool starters from the remaining zodiac would be the snake or the rabbit. am i the only one that's tired of starters only having these kind of types? I don't mind them overall, but since gen 5 the only subtypes we've had have been fighting, dark, psychic, fairy, and ghost.
