Char X is basically DD up and sweep and that got a lot harder with more people bringing Volc counters. There is also fini to stop it, duggy can trap it etc

Zard Y just hits like a truck and then switches out, the latis don't see as much play as before because of the new fairies and Gren so and there are no new counters/checks because nothing wants to switch into sun boosted fire / grass / fighting coverage that could also carry HP Ice

So basically new mons and meta changes hurt X while Y doesn't care at all

This would be interesting only if it also prevented you from using the mons you filter out. Otherwise everybody would ladder to the top using landorus and magearna against teams without landorus and magearna.

It would still be a weirdly problematic feature, in a way. Imagine your team doesn't use volcarona and is built in such a way that the biggest (and pretty much only) threat to it is volcarona. You filter the moth out, and you will only ever play games in which you don't have to worry about it, making your ladder experience easier. Everybody would filter out chansey and dugtrio, too.
