It's not because it's a shitmon in game that it have to be in the anime, especially used with strategy.
Surskit for example was used with a really good strategy, it's not hard to understand how it was able to give difficulty to Pikachu with such unexpected tactics.

XY is okay, its looks good and the battles are good, the companions personally don't appeal to me too nice for my taste I prefer my companions to have conflicts because they more interesting to see, I also found the fillers really boring, with the Litleo and Lock picking ones being some of the worst Pokemon has had, and Showcases only really had good animation which wasn't enough to entertain me.

Nope. They focused to much on fan-service rather than telling a good story. No character development, just a forced "love" story and an overpowered rival that doesn't appear until halfway in. The only way to save the franchise is to go back to the character and Pokemon development of DP, with the discontinuation of Team Rocket as a whole. However, the animation was one of the highlights of XY, we must go back to there compared to what SM is.

But compared to SM, at least it had something. SM is just a series that moves by inertia without an actual focus or plot, it lacks of actual motivation for MC (yeah, he wants to beat Top Kek, but is he doing something for it besides behaving like a generic 10 year old kid from an average kodomomuke animu instead of a Pokémon trainer), main girl issues are absolutely ridiculous (it's supposed she can't touch Pokemon because of some UB related trauma, but the way Tomiyasu and Matsui are handling that makes it seem she is that way because she has severe autism or asperger), there are less battles, and even those battles were meh at its best. Raku's crush towards Kosaki was only an inner delusion of him because of shallow reasons (Ichijou only liked Onodera because she was cute and only because of that. The chances of her being the promise girl only increased his delusional state. Nisekoi was more about building up of a relationship based on both parts knowing and learning to get along. The way the autor did that was very questionable though, because he recurred into using overabused tropes, cliches and "polar extreme beginning and ending". I can agree it would have been more refreshing to have him chose her instead of the gorilla.

Also, Ichijou was dense as fuck just like Ash in that aspect. He lived with an internal delusion, but wasn't able to notice when other girls not named Kosaki were trying to make a move. Other thing Ichijou had in common with Ash is that he was brave as fuck when his friends were in danger.
