I don't even have to delve into the many gameplay flaws because that's all well known. All you have to know to gauge the quality of the game is the far reduced level of activity on /vp/, Serebii, Reddit, and Smogon. Hell on Smogon half the established userbase ragequit because the meta is irredeemable horse shit. Same goes for many Poketubers who find just as much worth in the in-game play.

Yes. Pokemon was envisioned and conceptualized by a person that has not worked on the series since GSC. Once Tajiri left, the innovation and inspiration left with him. This is nothing new with art or art like mediums. Masuda doesn't understand Tajiri's vision and it shows.

That said, there have been many chances for GF to technically perfect the better elements of the games to still create a great Pokemon experience. But GF has barely acted on these opportunities and even waters down what made the original games so popular despite their many flaws.

The community on NeoGaf is dead as well. Never seen it drop off so quickly and to this degree after a new generation before.

I think the biggest mistake was to tether USUM to the end of the trailer instead of making it separate. I think the idea was to advertise pokken by placing it before a sure fire mainline game, but it didn't work.

I think the real test for USUM will be when it gets its own ~2min trailer and shows off some content. If that gets relatively low views then we know people aren't too interested. The 10 second nothing burger shoehorned at the end of pokken isn't a good enough indicator for the game.

Don't forget the games are already a best seller on Amazon apparently.

It says here that SM actually sold less than BW. Not by much, but that still genuinely surprises me. I always thought that the gen one pandering in gen 6 and 7 was reactionary to a very low sales point in gen 5, but it looks like the series sells a tiny bit less each year no matter what they do.
