I create Pokemon teams that are battle ready, but never actually use them since playing games online, even in a casual, setting gives me extreme anxiety.

I started on Gen 1.
I have fond memories of the anime in season 1.

Yet I don't enjoy the company of nostalgiafags who can't accept the series has moved on. Pokemon fans that either accept the series has changed or started at a later gen are my preferred company.

That said, Genwunners aren't completely terrible. The ones who played the games are at least somewhat respectable on the sheer fact they experienced Pokemon in its original form and know the basics of battling if not comfy memories of sidegames like Stadium or Snap. The fans whose nostalgia of the series only through the anime are far worse in my book.

I don't feel any sort of attachment towards any of my Pokémon at all. I like Sylveon as a species, but I don't feel any differently about the one I used in my first playthrough of Y, the 5IV Pixilate one I bred for online battles, and the shiny one I randomly found in Sun; they're all just Sylveon that I've used at some point for whatever reason.

Been with the franchise since day one, but I've only just recently ever played Red, Blue, and Silver. I've only beaten Red and barely touched the other two. I'm in a weird place because I get excited when new games come out, knowledgeable as fuck, and I keep up with everything as if I'm a veteran Pokemon player. But I've always just been more of animefag, though I was big into merch and TCG pretty early on. To top it off ironically I'm one of the most frequent visitors/shitposters to this board as of late last year.

Because of the blunder that SM was, I returned to play Y and AS to get shinies and play their onlines (I don't have Pokémon Bank yet, so all the shinies and Mythicals are still on those games)

And because I'm getting bored of catching Shiny Pokémon I'm starting to play other games, like many Metroid and Kirby games, but mainly Team Kirby Clash Deluxe

I spend a good chunk of my last few wagechecks on physical copies of Pokemon Emerald, FireRed, HeartGold, Platinum, Black2, and Y. And on a DS lite.

I wanted to use all of my OC's canon teams, then transfer them up to Ultra Sun when it comes out. Finished Platinum and currently on HeartGold.

I am entirely in >>33042443's camp as someone who also started with Gen I.

I think Incineroar is great and people flip out over it too much. I only wish GF'd show it on all fours at least once in official art so it can shut people up.

My favorite mons are three-stage mons based on actual animals. I can enjoy all pokemon designs, but those are my favorites.

Even when you consider this board is supposed to be full of shitposting assholes, I think people take this place too seriously and let it hamper their enjoyment of games, specific pokemon, or the anime. That, and many of them don't realize they're aging and their tastes are becoming different from when they were kids into Pokemon.

I find the Basculin color and Seaking horn/fin wars way more amusing than starter or gen wars, even when they're clearly shitposting. People should fight in them more to lighten up.

I liked how you essentially got two starters in XY, and think it'd be fun to bring it back (second starter of another gen being given quite early in the game in return for doing a quest of some sort).

i didn't like that that much, it's cool to have a second starter, but i think having 2 limit your team variety, if you pick fenekkin you will probably feel like you can't pick charmander, because you would be double dipping on fire types, and if you get squirtle or bulbasaur you probably feel like you're either done with water or grass pokemon on your team, you gonna have to double dip or you have to ditch the second starter to get a more interesting and new pokemon.

Tapu's and UBs are not even that Op, but you're not missing much anyway. People online will most likely refuse to battle(despite their profile stating that they're willing to.... ) and even when they accept, there is at least 70% chance that they will ragequit as soon as you're about to win.

it's the entire ethos of the design that was better, instead of improving the parts that were good from games like Crystal they decided to progressively tack on more gimmicks and the design went in a different direction starting with Gen III. these games weren't bad at all, actually Hoenn and beyond i enjoyed a lot, but you'll never get back the magic of generation 1-2. it's the same problem that literally every franchise had in the transition from classic consoles to the GameCube, Wii, DS etc. Twilight Princess was a good game, probably less buggy than Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask, but Nintendo still hasn't made a better Zelda game since. it's about magic.

In Pokemon's case, those choices weren't endearing. Special Stat being broken as shit and Psychic being king of the field with very little if not effectual checks was a problem. That an its designated counterpart was complete shit against it.

What the first four games (RBG+Pikachu) were was establishing a brand, but it was a mechanical mudpile. Gen 2 fixed some things, but still left a lot to be desired. Literally the point where the series peaked was either Abilities, the Special/Physical move split or both.

When I first played GSC as a kid, I would always end the game around the guy who sells you a Slowpoke Tail, because I thought I would need millions of dollars to get through. I try grinding money from Trainers on the Pokegear, but I always get impatient.

It took me until 2010 when I was 16 to realise that you don't need to buy a Slowpoke Tail at all.

If you're not playing battlespot ranked more than half the time you end up battling some kid who uses their ingame team or legendaries with bad movesets.

This type of thing doesn't effect me in battlespot but if someone asks for a battle in plaza I freak out. I hate losing these types of battles so if I usually power off if I start losing against someone who asked to battle me. I still accept almost every time and even ask people to battle because 3v3 is fucking boring and I prefer to play on cart.

I save whore as much as possible and until recently quit and reloaded if ANY member of my party fainted. I've only stopped doing it *as much* because I'm trying to power through older games purely to transfer specific mons in specific balls forward and I am too impatient to grind for days/weeks to beat the elite 4/Red

I started in Gen 1 also. I remember being like 3 or 4 and my dad showing me a rom of Blue in a hex editor. I remember Gen 2 starting, and my dad and I played through together - he had Gold and I had Silver. I hate drinking water, so I go a couple of months without drinking it. After around 2 months, I start feeling really sick and extremely thirsty, so I spend a week of drinking ice cold water all day, non-stop. I'm in this weird bind about legit playing a hacking/gening.

I play with no cheating cause I like to play the games (even the tedious and mundane grinding/breeding.). I know from personal experience it can take a while to get a shiny or competitive Pokemon but in the newer games it's really easy to do so. Even a complete ignorant like myself learned about IVs, movesets, etc this gen and now I have box full of ready to go Pokemon. For me I like to earn the awesome Pokemon I use and I put the time into get them.

But on the other hand I understand why people just hack them in, saves a fuck tonne of time and the Pokemon are no different than mine. I don't really hold much against 'hackers' for the points prior but I do think you can't justify hacking down to "I don't have the time to do all that, so I just hack them in." That's complete bull to me. As I said before, shiny hunting and competitive breeding is easier than ever and it doesn't take that long, so saying that you don't have the time to put in is bullshit. I have a life, I go to the gym for two hours a day, I have a full time job and I occassionally take classes to do other things. Oh yeah, I do have friends too. So when people say to me "I don't have the time to do it." I say "Fuck you, you liar." You can, whether it's down to playing less of other games or whatever the fact is that there is time to do it, you simply lack the dedication and diligence to do it.

Pontification aside, I don't really care if a person hacks a Pokemon in, just don't bullshit me, your fucking lazy.

I love all the main games but I wish there were more exploration and puzzles in XY and SM, I think there were the most fun parts of the previous games (not counting the battles and completing the pokedex).

I never beat Red in GSC and HGSS. It was always because someone (either a younger sibling or cousin) would erase my save files before I even tried. The internal batteries of my copies of Gold and Crystal died, and level grinding in HGSS is a pain in the ass so I haven't tried again, and getting all the gym leaders' phone numbers is also annoying. I feel like trying again soon though. I did beat him in SM outside of the battle tree, even though I was underleveled throughout the whole game.

It never crossed my mind that I could have a HM slave before playing ORAS and SM. I gave some shitty moves to my pokemon in Platinum because of that and I really regret it. And since I only played it once long ago I want to try playing it again from the start.

I hate PMD plots and play it exclusively for the dungeon crawling. Blue Rescue Team is my favorite of the bunch, but Super had a lot of potential to be alright, too.
Stadium 1+2 and PBR are more fun than any postgame facility the main games have. While PBR's better based on mechanics alone, though, Stadium 2's more enjoyable overall.

- Although I have a whole box of my favorite Pokémon all with max. stats (I really enjoy breeding) I never bother playing online since every opponent is either a casual with legendary Pokémon or some "competitive" fag. In both cases you only see maybe a handful of different Pokémon in their teams and it bores me to death.
- I always play with female only teams.
- I'm annoyed that so much of the original score from Red/Blue gets recycled every damn time a new game comes out. Please stop. You'll never get anything better than the first version from that, so leave them alone and try something new.

Twilight Princess was better, but not by much. It solved some of the problems, while presenting other problems of its own. The problem I had with OoT's dungeons covered even parts of TP's overworld. Same. I recently kind of dipped my toe into competitive and realized I'm just not much of a multiplayer game kind of person.

I think I prefer completing the pokedex and breeding good competitive pokemon and/or shinies, and hunting for shinies/HA 'mons. Contests too. Basically anything I can do on my own

It was just the usual Pokémon/trainer/move edits, nothing fancy. I really don't have the knowledge to do anything more than that. It was "balanced" around not having the Exp. Share on and it assumed you would fight every single trainer in the game, which was probably a bit much. Plus some parts of it were nigh-impossible because I didn't read up on what would actually happen in the game (such as giving two Skull Grunts full teams of six each, not realising you have to fight them both one after the other).
It was really quite messy overall, so I never bothered with releasing it. I might put it up somewhere eventually but I'd probably want to make some changes to it first, since I'm not even sure if it works on anything but Sun v1.0.
