Samurott is such an interesting Pokemon. You start with Oshawott, which might be the ugliest base starter of all time, which could have been cute with some editing. Then you have Dewott, which is a lot neater but still a little weird looking depending on the art (it looks good in conquest).
And then you have Samurott, which is a thing. Awkward anatomy for no reason. Sure people say it's for the "Samurai Horse" depiction but there's better ways to make a quadped/semi biped look physically possible. I've never seen this thing actually walk in any depiction, game or anime. So what happened? Did Gamefreak just not care?

Mawile isn't that characteristic of a "combative" trait. It's more of a projection of reliance of protection as it's seen as being reliant on its back-mouth. The figure itself, without the weapon, is both feminine and severed enough from it's opposing body part. In essence, it's one being guarded by a masculine piece.
