A Sims Pokemon hybrid would be amazing. Whether official or unofficial in connection to the Sims series, it could just draw inspiration from it. Trainer classes unlock Pokemon options, think type specialists. You can customize the trainer but they would never dress too similar to another class or would have a distinguishing trait for each class. You still have to catch them all but you have to have multiple characters to do so and they have to all stay friends or you lose that character's portion of the dex. Maximum of 5 characters, more characters means more in fighting and less means you are invested into too much into the character, 3&4 will be the recommended number of characters.

I would make it like fallout. Post apocalyptic wasteland rpg set in Orre.. dios mio the possibilities

You can still keep the turn based battles alive, but have it play without cutscenes, just like a dialogue, but with battle graphics in stead.

Join one out of three factions, good, mysterious, or evil and let this decide the story ending. Post game? dlc island
