Until Rowlet was revealed, there wasn't a starter I ever wanted to keep unevolved since Torchic. It's just so fucking cute.

I like 2/3 of the Alolan starters and the 3rd one I like the middle stage of so it's okay. Feel bad for Incineroar because I love wrestler types but its design reduces it to a like for the guy.

I also feel bad for Venusaur because it's the least appreciated of its trio, despite being bro AF.

Same goes to Chesnaught, even if it wasn't my first choice in that gen.

Typlosion needs a better 3D model.

All 3 Hoenn starters look good and do good but Swampert is my pal.

Same goes to Sinnoh but I like Infernape a bit less than the other two.

Serperior is best for Gen 5, but I feel bad for Samurott and Emboar because they deserved so much better. Emboar is the best example of wasted potential.

On the whole, all the starters are pretty good. A few don't suit my tastes but that's okay. Everyone has a preference.

Most of my favorite pokemon are based on animals or concepts that i'm obviously attached to. The reason why Greninja is my favorite starter is because his execution is so neat and well executed that he retroactively made me like both Ninjas and Frogs. I think that speaks more about the power of good design.

There's no starter Pokemon I dislike. The starters and their evolutions are some of the things I'm looking forward to the most when a new generation is announced, and I think most of them have solid designs - sometimes the best of their own region. I have my favourites, that's a given, but every single starter has something unique about it and there's no starter I didn't want to try out at least once in a playthrough.

Primarina is the one I like the most; I think the themes and design quirks behind every part of it are smart and well thought out. Thinking and learning about them made me appreciate the design more, but, for me, they also work in a purely aesthetic way: the design simply resonated with me from the start, and it grew on me more and more with time.

I wish we could have more peaceful threads like this one.

As op I have to admit, I fucked up on so many levels, the intent was to post your favorite starter and or liked or mostly liked. I was up making this thread tired as hell. In no way did I intend to make this a starter war thread, I honestly like all alolan starters, but I also like other starters too.

As to why I picked incineroar out of the other gen 7 starters is because I feel like incineroar has the most personality, he gives me that el-tigre vibe, but if you ask me I really do like most of the starters.
