While I can see how that'd be useful for nerfing physical attackers that usually OHKO Salazzle, it feels like it'd be another thing you'd have to set up for it to be useful first, like Corrosion.

Maybe instead give her a different ability that allows her to give extra damage to enemies that are poisoned OR burned?

Right. I was going to follow up with "she resists Steel so she might survive" but then I remembered nearly every Steel type learns Rock Slide. So technically she'd be poking a hole in the enemy and put them on a timer, and just hope whatever you bring in next can handle whatever comes next.

(For that matter, almost EVERY Pokemon can learn Rock Slide. What the fuck? Why? Does GameFreak hate fire types or something?)

Even if she does resist steel-type attacks, her defensive stats are so abysmal that she'd probably faint anyway. Unless you invest heavily in those stats, which you would be stupid to do. On top of that, most steel-types can also EQ, which she has a 4x weakness to on top of its high BP.
I think the only way that tech would work is if she was sashed, but then you're still trading one KO for another.

You're right about psychic, but I specifically mentioned the fire type, not Salazzle. Seriously, grass has 3 types it's super effective to and they're all weaknesses of fire. Energy ball is perfect coverage option on every special fire type, because it can also make sense thematically in most cases.

Corrosion making all it's moves hit at least normally effectively even if that means ignoring abilities and we're part of the way there at least, no?

Salazzle and Toxapex trade signature abilities.

Salazzle can function as fast SpA oriented pokemon. With access to Nasty Plot you can pusy SpA even higher. Corrosion, while a good ability isn't used to its full potential by something so frail. Now, yes, it is a trade off, I know.

With Merciless, it would hit even harder and Toxapex, a stallmon could better utilize toxic with Corrosion.
