Since Crashy boy brought up the subject of severe autism, what are things in writing or art that really just make you go full spectrum?

When a Pokemon calls their trainer "master". Whether the Pokemon can actually speak or it's just translated poketalk, a Pokemon calling it's trainer master always makes me feel weird to read. Dunno why. Makes it seem to much like a slave scenario (which, I guess, it actually is, but still..) Which kind of stinks for me because 95% of Pokemon stories have the Pokemon reffering to their trainers as master.

You wouldn't like my old story then. It's completely unrelated to Pokemon. But the mc is solely based off of me, all the characters are based off people I know irl. It's literally the story of my life, but heavily embellished.

Cambro is the character I've developed over the years. I've pretty much got his entire team planned out so much that when I start a new game, I just go ahead and use a save editor to start him off with everyone at level 1.

Oh, fuck me when a new gen comes out. If there are any new waifumons, I go through a three month long conniption fit over trying to decide who to switch out. Heh.

What do you guys think of twin pokemon.
Or symbiotic pokemon sharing a ball.

If you have things like dugtrio, or magnatons even kangaskhan. Then would it be possible to have a pokemon share the same ball.
Example. Two grimers sharing the same ball, as the blob around together.
A plusl and minium sharing the ball.
Something along those lines.
>>
>>33008492
Sounds like an orgy.

All jokes aside, it sounds like you'd have to make modifications to the Pokeball for that to work, but it's not something I would completely doubt.
>>
>>33008492
Maybe if you come up with a new ball for that purpose? "Multi ball".

Pokemon turn into some kind of energy when they go into pokeballs. Wouldn't want end up having a "the fly" incident where something goes wrong and they get fused into some horrifying mutant poke!

Although that would make a good plot for a horror movie for in the Pokemon world. "The Flygon".

>>33008492
A pokeball pretty much turns the genetic code of a Pokemon into actual code for storage. A multi Pokemon ball would be impossible to get right... Most Pokemon would be twins anyway, due to litters and eggs hatching around the same time.
>>
>>33008492
I'm personally of the belief that, unless it's a specific case where a Pokemon depends on another (Such as how Slowbro and the examples you've presented), I would think Pokemon sharing a ball specifically is awkward in terms of the Pokemon series' lore.
In the case of a giant Grimer being the combination of two Grimer, I could let that slide, but it's a very case-by-case basis, and I'd feel there could be a way to have duo Pokemon in separate balls.
Just watch Game Freak throw a wench into my words

Reposting Arthur. Partnered with a Froakie as his first Pokemon, he travels and follows in the footsteps of the Old Pilgrims. While he works hard to be a skilled battler, he is troubled that he has no idea what he wants to accomplish as a trainer or what life awaits him after, in contrast to his friend who has a bright future as a Ranger. Well-versed in the oral traditions of the Sapphire Archipelago, one of three great regions that comprise the Mnemorii continent better name ideas would be appreciated, especially since he hails from its capital, the Water city Shuiea. He does his best to be a good, curious learner, but can be callous.

I'm still working on this sketch so it's very bad, and still in it's first stages.

He's a trainer who specialises in the electric type & spends most of his days running a small basement like un-offical gym. It's rigged up with cameras and he livestreams that shit for extra cash. His headgear mostly serves to read out what pokemon he's carrying and what the best moves would be to use so he doesn't really have to think. It leads to some frustration with his pokemon, who don't exactly feel respected, or respect him as a trainer, because he hardly ever puts time into getting better. He just likes to be an asshole.

His go-to mon is Electrabuzz. He's probably tried to steal a rotom before.

have some of my setting, I guess.

The northwest deserts, plains and mountainous regions are known as the Fire Plains. While the cities are far apart, they are connected by train and well developed. Trainers used to cross the desert on foot, but the practice is dying out, with many choosing to just take a train. Consequently, less pilgrims to the great shrines at the three great capitals seem to have experienced great visions or received gifts such as sacred ash. While Binestrone hosts the biggest media giants, Torchfire is still the capital as the Fire city, being in the vicinity of the volcano known as the Mirage Loft and hosting the Sun Shrine.

The lush eastern stretch is known as the Grasslands. The harsh southern jungles play host to much biodiversity and is used by Rangers for training, while the climate and lush soil near the Spring Fields serves as the continent's breadbasket. The forests grow more hospitable as you go north, and when you reach the capital at the Evergreen you are surrounded by nature at its most beautiful, especially when you see the Mirage Axis's branches. The secret to finding and climbing the great tree is known only to the gym leader and her challengers.

The southern islands are known as the Sapphire Archipelago. Those wishing to hone their bodies, minds and spirits come to the relevant islands to be trained in the gyms. Shuiea is a central hub of shipping and business, but hosts also a rich mix of the islander's cultures, hosting the Storm Shrine and the islet chain where you find the Mirage Falls, raining constantly and where would need to learn the ritual to find the water gym.

>>
>>33010469
Yup on the aesthetics, though also taking some Mayan stuff, like that temple in not-Patagonia. That big city is based on Rio, but maybe the Arceus statue's a bit too on-the-nose.

I adore that map of yours. How'd you make it?
>>
>>33010518
Generated a Large Island world in Dwarf Fortress, then edited in photoshop. The middle region isn't really supposed to be desert, it's supposed to be, like, the most lush and lively place imaginable. The heart of the continent, the Rising City, is where the central government is and where Dragons as the most powerful of nature spirits are most revered. The Duality Tower, a massive structure right in the middle, is said to host the essences of Zekrom and Reshiram, the (undiscovered) peak being where Rayquaza lives and the depths being Zygarde's lair. The whole centrally-controlled Dragon thing is supposed to have heavy undertones of Imperial China too.
>>
>>33005514
Hypnos ARE child predators. It's canon. That's a lost cause right there.
>>
>>33010562
Damn, that's really cool.

The main legendaries in my region are Regigigas (he moved Hoenn away from it, they were connected originally), Zygarde (has a cave on an island based off of Ilha da Queimada Grande, or Snake Island, which is shaped like it), and Mew (cuz South America lol). There's also one volcano, one glacier, and one mountain with eternal lightning in the northwest, which you can guess what belongs there.

(By the way, your Petrot- place looks like it got either erased or messed with in the layers)

It's supposed to be Petrotown, a materials manufacturing and research town, hosts a poison gym.

Near every legendary exists in my continent, because about a thousand years ago the old pokeworld got fucked beyond repair, so those dragon Pokemon, hearing the pleas of people and pokemon for help, found a way to a new world, dragged practically all the other legendaries there and either convinced them or beat the shit out of them until they agreed to help shape the place. Dialga and Palkia creating stable spacetime, Kyogre and Groudon making the oceans and land, Xerneas and Yveltal kickstarting ecosystems and so on. Each legendary Pokemon has a group of adherents for whatever reason, at least the legendary Pokemon that can be remembered. One doesn't exist in the new world and has been forgotten.

Speaking of Mew, I wanted it to travel in guise of a person having lived since the Dawn Era. Would be some mysterious being who has worn many faces over the millennium, doing whatever it pleases. After all

>There lived a Pokémon in a forest.
>In the forest, the Pokémon shed its hide to sleep as a human.

>>
>>33010779
...Damn. Now THAT'S a cool concept. I had a somewhat similar headcanon for how the Mystery Dungeon world came to be.

Wouldn't it make more sense for PETROtown to have a Rock-type gym?

If it's been a thousand years, has technology progressed a lot from the tech we know in the actual Pokemon canon?
>>
>>33010428
>>33010421
Anyway, so what's the culture of your region like? Any local practices, superstition? Arthur lets his Honedge feed off his spirit, for one, but only since he knows how to heal himself with mystic water. He believes it'll make his Pokemon stronger, and his Honedge is kind of addicted.

>>33010923
Not very much, a lot of technology has been lost and are only being recently discovered. Wireless network infrastructure is still new and the Pokedex is a very recent project. Salvage ships still trawl the ocean looking for old ruins to find lost technology to reverse-engineer, even. There's a current golden age of technology though, with many breakthroughs in biomimetic materials, in no small part due to one Professor Xavier Yew. He's a prominent scientist, partnered with a Slowking, mentor to a few trainers and he 'eats at the same table' with some of his Pokemon. Online communities for that sort of thing are thriving.

>>
>>33010990
Well, the thing is, there are TWO cultures in the region. To explain that, story stuff.

Possibly a spoiler if I ever do manage to make a story from this, but whatever.

Long ago, a Maya/Aztec/Inca-esque empire ruled the region, worshipping Regigigas (and the Therian formes of the Kamis, cuz duh). Eventually that empire fractured because of story reasons, and the native peoples formed their own distinct groups. The region has only recently been discovered by the rest of the world, which has set up colonies and sent explorers. However, tensions have arisen between the colonials and the natives and their Pokemon, only heightened by the establishment of Team Ruin, which wants to reestablish the ancient empire.

In the native culture, I want to avoid the whole "communing with nature" thing, although they treat their Pokemon as actual people, believing there is no difference between the two (like the Sinnoh myth).

The colonists' culture is a melting pot of Kanto, Johto, etc cultures, kinda like actual Brazil.
>>
>>33011171
I imagine there'd be a Little Johto or something with Ecruteak inspired buildings on the coast.

>want to make a map
thats as easy as opening mspaint, drawing a blob, filling the blob in green, and everything outside it blue. then take the pencil tool, set the color to black, and draw a cross, then mark the side pointing up with an 'N' so people know where north is. you can fill in the rest from there.
>no creative ideas
you are probably more creative than you think, you just need to learn to focus on your ideas and try to 'explore in your head'.
>no artistic skills
the problem many amateur artists have is that they are not patient enough. impatience is a major source of bad art and frustrated artists. it even caused the holocaust, as hitler got kicked out of art school and drafted into the army when he couldnt be assed to just sit down and work on painting faces.

You just have to take inspiration from the world around you, or read/play stuff. A lot of how I worldbuild is inspired from Morrowind and reading about other places. Look for the little things, like why you do stuff a certain way, and think of why that might be.

>I want to avoid the whole "communing with nature" thing
Now that is interesting.

Each region on the continent has their own villains. Sea Raiders, Red Riders and Earth Cipher. Just powerful gangs for now, but maybe I'll make them more destabilising and looking to expand each region's territory.

The ultimate evil team though will be (actual spoilers if any of you Pokequesters are here) Team Exodus, e a bunch of kids who've grown up feeling like they don't belongd. Normal types aren't thought of very much, they have no folklore about them, they're usually at the bottom of the food chain they don't have their own gym, and so 'normal' people don't often get anywhere. Their leader will be a trainer that's traveling just like any other, but feeling very little of the same connection others do to the world. She sees these kids having a hard time, especially those taken by the other villain teams because nobody really wants them, and decides to do something.

She's a Faller, born in the old world but displaced in space and time during the Great Migration, but has in her possession a strange, otherworldly flute. She learns the sounds of the world's creation and how all Pokemon seem to react to the music it plays, and will eventually discover a being known only in the most forbidden memories as the Original One that might either lend the world its spark or take them away elsewhere. The characters, at the end, are supposed to recall all the memories they've made on their journey to convince the Original One that the current world is worth preserving.

Her ace will be a Blissey, reflecting her normie state, caring nature and ungodly power.

What kind of outfit would your character wear to a beach?

She'd wear a bikini top with one of those long skirt bottoms.

Toplina would wear a T-shirt and swim trunks. Exciting, I know.
She also doesn't tend to like being in labs, which might explain why she had a poor experience at the environmental studies resort she went to for the past couple of months.

>She also doesn't tend to like being in labs

>>
>>33012686
The beach? Sirius probably wouldn't dare leave his environmental suit; as someone who dislikes grime and dirt, he wouldn't trust the hygiene of a public beach. That wouldn't stop him going if he had to, of course.
If he was invited to a beach by a friend, he'd probably make an exception, however, but still want to show as little skin as possible. A rolled-up-sleeve button up shirt with slim-fit trousers, gloves and plenty of sunscreen, for sure. Even then, he'd never want to get in the water, and would probably be too occupied with rock pools, or relaxing on the shore under a parasol with a book.

As for somewhere he'd never want to go, a sewer comes to mind, like the Castelia Sewers. Dirty, smelly and underground; you can't even see the stars from there. Nothing of value to be found in a sewer.

To the beach? A pair of bright ass orange trunks with flower print, and an unbuttoned green Hawaiian shirt with the same design.

Where wouldn't he go? Kind of related to the beach question. He'll go to the beach, but don't get in the water because he's got that phobia where he's scared of large bodies of open water.

There's one point in the story where he has to ride in a small sub to get to an underwater lab and he freeeeaks.

Drew these all separately from each other, maybe I should give Maple a non-sketchy pic, but eh. I fucking love one-pieces also. Looking at them it's now occurring to me I play two green-eyed brunettes for this same group, for some reason.

Maple (redhead) doesn't avoid anywhere, except school because she's too cool for it.
Jane (tubby) used to avoid the sun and hot areas, but she ended up catching a bunch of fires and a Drought Torkoal, so it's reasonable to say she's getting used to it. Can still see her hating muggy, humid places full of bugs.
Wendy (nugget) would avoid hot and dry places, though she has her Pelipper to help cool things down if need be. Limbs act as heat-sinks for the body, so a quad amputee overheats considerably more easily.

In a lot of the games, it's implied that people take on gyms in whatever order they want, and they just scale with the number of badges. If someone wanted to do the gym past the mountain first, they could.

That's how gyms work in my headcanon. Gym leaders have different teams of Pokemon at different levels to use depending on how many badges the trainer challenging them already has.

So far, she generally uses them as mounts. The aces I picked for her were her Pelipper, "Stratofort", and her Bulbasaur (now an Ivysaur), the latter of which she rides within its bulb/flower.

There's a gimmick she has related to aura, with which she can guide her Pokemon precisely while mounted like this, like controlling vines or piloting this bird, though the Pokemon themselves choose whether they want to follow said instructions or not.

She did get a Honedge recently though, so maybe that could be used for something like what you're proposing.

Why? Having 12 Pokemon justifies making battles longer and allows for more strategies. You can have Pokemon for every eventuality!

Also the common mons in this region are fucking cheap. Ferexian Ratatta-Bootleg has Parental Bond as its second ability (Its first is run away) and learns Super Fang at level 14.
>>
>>33019656
I'm gonna go on a limb here and say you're being a troll. At least, I hope you are. If not, you're some hype active little 14yo that thinks that creating a bunch of "oc" Pokemon and then double team sizes for the sake of drawing out battles is cool. How often to trainers ever even use full teams of six? Gym leaders and the E4 don't even use full teams in the games, anime, or manga. I hardly ever criticise anyone so hard, but of all the ideas I've ever seen posted here, yours is just whack.
>>
>>33019684
>some hype active little 14yo
Yes, edgy 22-year-old veteran virgin wizard, I am but a mere 14 years of age. pls no bully.

Except I'm not, and you're a faggot. A dumb faggot. Your argument is that I shouldn't double pokemon team sizes and draw out battles because I think that would be cool, and I shouldn't shouldn't double pokemon team sizes and draw out battles because shitty easy Gym Leaders often don't properly use their team of 6. Is that all?

I want my region to have competent gym leaders with teams that scale with your current number of gym badges AND competent teams of strong pokemon.
>>
>>33019716

>Calling me underage, then acting like you "won" for doing that

>>
>>33019656
That's just wow.

Okay. Do you want me to be real here, assuming you ain't trolling? That sounds like a detrimental idea, especially in terms of pacing. Working with six Pokemon is apart of the fun team-building aspect. Being able to carry around 12 magical creatures like that is pretty nuts, y'know?
>>
>>33019790
Aight. It's whatever. I'm actually not busy, and this thread is pretty slow at the moment, so I can I'll pretend to take the bait and feed the troll.

Let's just say you're not just shitposting, which is trying to say a lot. You posted an idea and asked if it was "worth while". Two, maybe three anons all responded that they didn't think it was a good idea. One ever gave a somewhat details reason WHY he thought it was a bad idea. And how did you respond? By arguing and calling names. I believe you're exact words were "you're a faggot. A dumb faggot." Not once did you explain why having a team of a dozen freaking Pokemon was a good idea. You said you wanted gyms to scale with the trainer and to have competent teams. Can that not be done with LESS that twelve Pokemon? What LOGICAL reason would a trainer have for carry a small army of Pokemon, rather than no more than the standard limit of six? The only line of reasoning you've even implied is simply "more means better", which is wrong in so many ways. Guess what? I'm even going to explain to you what some of those way are. Writing a trainer with a team of six Pokemon is hard enough, unless you plan on Mary suing every Pokemon and not trying to give them their own personalities. Two much type coverage. "A Pokemon for every situation" would make a extremely boring team. Making your trainers have teams of twelve to make their teams "competent" implies you aren't smart enough to make "competent" teams of six or less. Is every battle going to have to be twelve on twelve just to seem good to you? 4/5s of any story is going to be battles because they're going to be so long. Any remotely decent writer can write a good story around a short battle and STILL make it interesting. You said yourself that you want to "show off" your own oc Pokemon. Making larger teams just to shill your own pokes it maximum level Jew, and that itself shows how immature your idea is. If you can't take critique, don't post your ideas.

Is there a "recommended" path? I follow the idea that you can do the league in any order you want, and all my OCs go around a map based on their hometown. But, I could still see a usual circuit, based on geography and ecosystems and whatnot. Most people might save the Dragon Gym for last and want to face something simpler like Normal or Rock first, until they build up a more varied team. Shouldn't face the Bug Gym until you've swung by the place where all the Fire types hang out. So, is it a total free-for-all, or is there some League-recommended path?
>>

I feel like you should put a town at the base/top of the mountain west of New Celadon. You've already got mines, so maybe something about mineral water. A bunch of rivers seem to originate from that one mountain, it even leads into a lake. The melting snows and/or an underground aquifer, along with the mountain's natural minerals, create some refreshing mineral water. Probably an accompanying spa, too, really double down on the health and wellness concept the spring naturally suggests.

Might as well. I've had the idea for my own fangame but the resources and time would be better spent on making my own universe. That aside.

Muller - (Taken from Fox Mulder, the X-files) The player's rival, and on occasion ally. Using a team of Sableye (Main) Beheeyem, Clefable, Magnezone, Minior and Prygon-Z. As expected, he is a paranormal investigator.

Lucan - (From Lucanidae) The 8th Gym Leader of the region, as a twist he is a bug fag with Pinsir, Volcarona, Scizor, Araquanid, Armaldo and Galvantula. His gym is a multi-floored ruins in a rainforest dome.

Azar - (Persian for fire ) In a similar vein, the first gym is Dragon. She has a Dratini, Bagon and Goomy.

The region, Osida Region, based off the Ionian Islands, is a generally unscathed region, though scattered with ruins of an ancient civilization. Culturally, It has been cut off from the rest of the world for centuries. However it has a wonderful Trade Port, a gorgeous view, and a tree said to be over a thousand years old, and many rare and powerful pokemon from across the world. Legends of ancient heroes and monsters echo across the lands, legends told across generations for entertainment purposes, there is some speculation they could be true.

Many of the pokemon that appear in the wild would be more "monstrous", dragons are a bit more common and many bestial Pokemon like Aggron and Nidoking would be found in the wild, and whatever mon I could connect to Greek Mythology in some way or another.

The idea never took off past that though.

>>33022461
I mean, if we're talking Greek Mythology creatures, we've got to go with Hydreigon for the Hydra. Miltank, being bipedal, makes for a better minotaur than Tauros or Boufalant, but you could also go with Tapu Bulu. Silvally the Chimera unless you want to make your own mismash. Skarmory for the Stymphalian Birds, Fearow or Oricorio Harpies and Primarina Sirens. Uh. Three Houndoom or a Dodrio for Cerebus, I guess. Something in the Shinx line for the Spinx, unless you want something more trickstery like Espeon or Liepard. Pyroar for the Nemenean Lion, Dusclops/Dusknoir for a Cyclops. A big Tentacruel/Jellicent for Charybdis and, I don't know, another Hydreigon for the Scylla?

There's a lot of shit here, is what I'm saying. You've got options. Avenues.

He lives with his "old lady" and "lil brat" of a sister, and has no friends or Pokémon. Definitely no Pokémon. He's not afraid of trying to catch one shut up!

He'll frequent the shore just outside of town to relax most of the time, have a cola, toss a can into the ocean.

Though littering at that spot may not be such a good idea...

I think I have a pole here somewhere... here we go.

>Don't mock her weight, or she'll stab you
WHY? I mean, the trivia explained it, but this is such a weird place to be mentioning that. It gave a bad first impression too, with how you word it.

>Egyptian magic
Pic related.

>Through this magic, she was given [...]
W-why do you need magic for that? Is it a magical necklace? Is it a key to an ancient Egyptian tomb? Why?

>Since that day, she has [...]
Giving a grand goal like that seems odd outside of PMD. But whatever.

>[...] various quirks she has
Elaborate. You can't just say "she has this and that" without going into details. That's lazy writing.

Grammar aside, this is just... strange? Can't say I hate it, but it gives that "you can't be serious" feeling.

Man I need help fleshing this guy out, but the gimmicky story I'm going for is the archetypal jerk is punished and has to learn how to be a better person.

...Via a Manaphy heart-swapping him into an alolan Ratatta and trapping him like that until he becomes a better person, or befriends six pokemon.

I'll be posting Saras Rakshi, one of the working assistants of R&D in trying to rebuild and restore lost technology.
Despite her young age, being just around the age of sixteen, she is a protege that is already showing herself fully capable of doing great things.
Unfortunately, her quick jump in becoming such a recognized name seems to come at some costs.
She has terrible people skills, severe anxiety towards other people towards the point of severe agoraphobia, she is disabled outside of her own lab without the assistance of her own Pokemon aides. Inside her room, she is more comfortable, albeit still troubled by strangers entering her room at times, she still needs help with talking to others, but it is a work in progress.
Her Pokemon are all mostly Psychic, strangely showing that she at one point had the capacity of psionic gifts, but they are stunted irreversibly.
The most she has is a telepathic bond with her Alakazam, Godot which acts as her sole method of communication between herself and him.
It is because he is her first Pokemon that they share such a bond, something so familial and deep that they are inseparable.
Outside of them, she views her other Pokemon as tools more than friends, just using them to fulfill what needs to be done and returning them to their balls after they've done their services. Most times, she gives them to someone else if they need attention or something that she can't bring herself to deal with.

>>Godot - Alakazam
>>Alpha - Lunatone
>>Beta - Solrock
>>Delta - Metagross
>>Gamma - Beheeyem
>>Epsilon - Gardevoir

I hope you like her. I wish I had a good picture of her, but I didn't have anything made of her, and I didn't just wanna rip something off of the internet.

I wanted to nickname the other Pokemon in a way that showed her absolute... lack of interest in them.
She gave them labels, they're not her pets, they're just her assets.
I thought of numbers, but... I dunno, the Greek alphabet sounded rather appealing at the time.
I should have done, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon. Oh well. It'll be finalized later.
I liked the idea of having her be a part of whatever is going on with this main plot of rediscovering old technology, reverse-engineering it, she would spearhead that definitely like the madwoman that she is.
Even if she is a fearful agoraphobic person, she is a fanatic about electronic technology, seeing that the more they keep getting, the better data she gets.
Of course, she always wants to get raw data, stuff that no one else has seen because she wants to catalog all known data recorded.
Bribing salvagers to give her the data first, even going so far as to say that she'll pay double over whatever Yew pays because she doesn't trust him.
Yet, she isn't a very trustworthy person herself.

I thought of that too.
She'd be happy to lead something like that, if she wasn't so paralyzed with fear because of people, probably need someone to act as a figurehead and Godot would telepathically talk as a medium.
She will always believe that she is doing everything for the greater good of life on Earth.
Even if it is immoral, wrong, dangerous, or if it costs lives.
She is a staunch believer in the end justifies the means, all of her actions that she has to make serve a greater purpose.
Sara won't regret them and Godot will never allow her to feel sad over them.
He even makes sure that she has mental blocks if she ever needs to repress something should she need to stop thinking of a memory.
They have no secrets between them, but she does act as a confidant for him too, talking to him and playing with him as well.
In a way, only when they're together alone is when they can act like when they were as children, playing together and simply having fun.
It is a completely different side of the two of them from what you'd imagine.
Needless to say, she is so dependant on Godot that if something were to happen to him, she wouldn't be able to survive on her own.

I kinda wonder what other people she would have in her group if she did have some sort of fanatic team.
Then again, she might also be that sort that just hires other teams to do her dirty work.
She would need to have a mediator of sort, someone that can be a speaker on her behalf and probably a fellow researcher and ally of hers.
I dunno... she could probably brainwash grunts too with Beheeyem, just to make sleeper agents that can work for her.
Sara is that paranoid and crazy... kidnap her enemies, brainwash them, have her enemies "free" them, and get intel back whenever she needs it.
It all depends on how much of a monster we need her to be.
>>
>>33023905
What if she ends up finding someone she can fully trust in besides Godot? Well, I mean is it possible?

Sara reminds me of Volkov for some reason. The slav is kind of dependent too on his Metagross, Goran, but only to a certain extent.
>>
>>33023942
Sounds like romance in the making

"Psychic love"
>>
>>33023942
It's really hard to imagine her finding someone to fully trust in outside of Godot.
It is possible, she is capable of it, but it would be very difficult and take a lot of time and patience due to her intense anxiety dealing with people.
Godot wouldn't make it easy, he would be quick to shoo away anyone if she was starting to feel taxed emotionally.
Over time, if she was starting to warm up to someone, it would be slow, gradual, but she might start to show it by being able to actually talk to them instead of using Godot or text-to-speech devices.

It's all something that is over time, but if she really trusts them... she'll let them into her room where she has her fancy electronics.
She usually doesn't let anyone in with shoes on due to all of the electrical cords lying about, demanding absolute care and precise footing.
Which is funny since she can walk around in that room like she is about ready to trip over shit, usually ends up knocking over something most of the time.

Cool, well if that's the case, here's mine. Sorry for the rushed drawing.

This is Lotus the Mienshao. She and her team member work together in a Rescue Team.

Having grown up in a family and a tribe of pacifists, Lotus isn't the best at battling. She isn't terrible at it since she's fully evolved, but because of her inability to battle, her fur has become softer and weaker as a result. That being said, Lotus knows her stuff on medicines and healing, and she is fantastic at navigating dungeons and rescuing lost Pokemon.

She is very sweet and is practically kind towards everybody, although her timid nature makes it hard for other Pokemon around her. Other than rescuing Pokemon, she helps out her team member with unraveling mysteries and discovering hidden treasures. She also loves Gracedia flowers and hopes to have a Gracedia accessory of her own one day.

I have been rewriting Lotus for years now. She was a completely different character then compared to now, and so far I enjoy her far more than back then

Oh yeah, more info on Volkov:

Goran has been the source of his pride in trainer battles since he got him as a Beldum as a birthday gift from his dad, who was a military mechanic. He always won his battles in his home region (reason being it's a snowy region where the sun only rises in two months each year, meaning the majority of his opponents owned ice types.) Since then, the only reason that he thought they were virtually unstoppable in their homeland was because of Goran alone.

Then, as soon as he left that region and sailed to another one, he and Goran beaten by a random Garbodor in an alley (Volkov only had only his luggage and tools back then. The only weapon he brought on the trip was a home made taser).

After getting defeated with Goran by that exact Garbodor, Volkov considered that loss as a reality check when he was finally sober (this was also the first time he lost in a Pokemon battle in a very, very long time).

He lost a bit of his confidence back then. He lost some of his faith on his Metagross, but he still cares for it. Still cherishing it like his only brother.

The Metagross itself has backed up some blueprints that it saw in Volkov's father's work place in its system to telepathically transfer them to Volkov's subconscious. The slav would sometimes feel that he has gone smarter over the ages despite his alcoholism, but it was actually Goran's doing. This pretty much justifies how Volkov's practically nothing without Goran even though now he's fully used to his craft. The Metagross, having studied the man's hidden insecurities since his childhood, has supported him through subtle telepathy.

Volkov's pretty much VERY interested in mechanical machinery. Show him to a rusty antique of a car or old equipment and he'll fully commit himself to it if he possesses the right information and tools about the machine. He got his inspirations and skills from his father.
>>
>>33024066
One more note:

Volkov's alignment is true neutral, meaning he probably won't give a damn if he's doing the right thing or not. He doesn't feel strongly towards things he doesn't want to truly understand (unless he's encouraged or seduced enough to want to). He would solve his problems by shooting at them with the appropriate firearm. For example: he would shoot a rude bystander with an instant-acting tranquilizer if he/she talks loud and long enough to annoy him.

Though, when it comes to friends, he is very caring and loyal. He once built a certain fully functioning semi-automatic assault rifle for a friend of his that had come across a serial killer.

And finally, when it comes to relationships, he's VERY afraid of rejection.
>>
>>33023856
Oh, I got one! How about Leon?

>>33023905
That's the kind of inhumane and uncaring science that makes such a great antagonist, even if unwitting. Especially when using the majority of her Pokemon as tools.

Crash would hate that seemingly unfeeling, at least to him, personality too.

>>33024082
Geez, I love that russian bastard. He's so awesome.

Speaking of alignments, Crash would most likely be Chaotic Good. He'd feel like, being the 'Number one Pokemon Trainer', that he'd have to build a reputation, and what better way than putting evil in its place? That being said, if he sees anything going on, like what looked like a robbery, he'd be more inclined to have his Blazette/Honey Buns, being Larvesta/Vespiquen respectively, beat up the robber until he surrendered, instead of just taking the stolen goods back.

Doesn't wait for help, doesn't wait for police. Always takes things into his own hands. Even if it means he has to get a little wild.
>>
>>33024272
Nah. I like Gus. He does look like a Gus.

Alignment? Cam would be.. Neutral Good stuff first, Lawful Good later. He starts out just wanting to be left alone, but once it gets to the point where the bad guys are on his case too hard, he goes full blown Rambo on their asses. Kind of an "I didn't start this fight, but I'm going to finish it" kinda guy.
>>
>>33024066
I should do a little of the same myself.

The two of them have been together ever since they were together in their home region of Sinnoh.
Sara wasn't always this bad, but whatever "special" gift she might have had seemed to irreversibly damage her mind.
It manifested upon her fifth birthday, giving her telepathy, but she was overwhelmed by it, crushing her psyche by the sudden overwhelming masses of voices that she started hearing.
Her mind just couldn't handle it, she fell apart under the stress, and her powers seemed to follow suit. They never truly recovered after that event.
She just found humans too terrifying after that moment, hearing them so deeply, even if she repressed the reason, she still knew something that she couldn't forget.
Her parents didn't know what happened, they had no history of such things, her father was a technician in the nearby power plant, and her mother was a grocer.

In Godot's eyes, she looked like she needed a friend, they needed to leave this place.
They found each other purely by chance, just "hearing" each other, despite the fact that her power shouldn't be functional.
It was attuned to him somehow, they were so much alike, first time meeting was nerve wracking, they hid for the most part behind the bushes.
Gradually, she introduced herself with a red ball, he bounced it back, they just passed it to each other little by little.
It got bolder, they grew to talk to each other with their connection, opening up more, until they were laying in the grass together.
She caught him, purely to be able to take him with her anywhere, they stole her parent's money, deciding to leave for another country together.
Sinnoh isn't safe.
That's just a fact.
They got a few Pokeballs, some necessities, and hitched a ride on a boat.
Knowing there is no going back from this point on.
>>
>>33024272
Well, it all depends on her mood and how far in she is towards this cause of hers.
Fanatic mode, she will definitely be completely crazy and totally on board for just throwing people and Pokemon away for her purpose.
Well, so long as she has the resources for it.
She does have a belief that if they need the numbers, she won't just throw them away unnecessarily unless it is worth it.
She has a strong opinion that Pokemon if they're not equal to you, must be absolutely subordinate and completely dependent on you.

"A tool cannot dare to raise its hand in opposition to its master." - Sara

She, of course, then goes on to advocate that you must lobotomize your Pokemon to bring out their potential as a tool.
If they cannot be an equal, they must become a tool and subservient to you.
Equals don't fight like tools, they do not perform mundane tasks, they are not ridden or are forced to perform stupid gimmicks for laughs. They are not pets.
An equal is what you expect for yourself.
What would you do if you are in their shoes, just as they would do if they were in yours?
>>
>>33024402
Everything at this point is just gravy. The more committed Sara is, the more unrelenting she becomes. All in the name of science. That's so good. I so do love villains like her. Scientists, apathetic assholes, their ideology with a small, sympathetic tone as to why this came to be.

Great stuff, anon.
>>
>>33024513
I know, right?
I am excited! I actually wanna draw her, but I am not exactly sure if I can get her body the way I wanna make it.
She's the sort of villain that would want to probably have another bigger villain or something as a scapegoat, she'd be methodical, manipulative, secretive and I would love the idea of her starting from the ground up.
Especially if she started out as someone who looked like she had good intentions, but becomes a monster over time due to her growing lust for technology and desire for expanding scientific progress.
She ends up gathering more people, drawing more attention, and what seems like a good group starts to slowly unravel itself into a more disturbing corrupt group.
Especially when trainers or other people start discovering abandoned excavation sites they've left behind, seeing dozens of dead and dying Pokemon that are basically nearly brain-dead.
Left behind because they were injured, unable to continue working so they were deemed unfit for service, so they were abandoned after the excavation was finished.

If it wasn't a valued tool or one that was useful enough to maintain, it was best left to perish than waste the resources in preserving it.
>>
>>33006813
I guess I'll rap more about Ming-Ming, especially if it means keeping the thread bumped.
Ming is from Konikoni City, and ever since she was a little girl, her clan trained her in kung-fu, Northern style to be specific, but something about physical training irked her. Perhaps it was her natural gift of athleticism that did it, where her mind and body guided themselves almost instinctively to her opponent's movement. Or perhaps it was due to her captivation over the elements that make up this world, such as the way that fire can give birth to destruction and harm others, or that it can create new homes and energy for people.
She decided to teach herself the culinary arts in secret, with a stray Growlithe, Línhuo, as her little stove top. Linhuo could easily warm up the wok she used to cook for others, but she was caught and reprimanded for shirking her duties to the clan. A part of her punishment was to leave on a personal journey to find what she desired most in life, but not without her parents giving her the gift of an Eevee partner, said partner hiding in her long hair during their travels.

Yyyup. I'm sold.

Though, Volkov wouldn't really let the last part happen if it goes on for long enough/if it will involve his own Pokemon.

I think you should describe what the organization uniforms look like, too.
>>
>>33023560
Is that too stupid an idea?
>>
>>33025827
I know what you mean, I hate drawing hands as well.
Gonna add a name for myself just to make things easier.
Distinction and all that jazz.
She's probably gonna be rather underwhelmingly developed for her age, the usual labcoat, her personal lilac colored undershirt, white sweatpants (she doesn't dress to impress), and often either goes barefoot or wears slippers if she needs to have shoes on.
Black hair, often pulled up in a hurried bun (so sloppy that it sticks out all over the place), hazel eyes, wears glasses most of the time (she is very nearsighted, but her work usually has her be so close to whatever she's working on that she hardly needs them).

>>33026106
Yeah... she doesn't press the matter much on people that she feels would strongly oppose it.
If they feel that strong of an attachment to their Pokemon, she will either deem them a concern if they might pose a liability, or if they won't jeopardize the mission, she will find a way to simply excuse them as an exclusion to policy.
In Volkov's case, she can easily deem him as an outsider that she doesn't need to have perform such rudimentary exercises of control.

Heh, I don't even have a name for the organization, let alone ideas for the uniform.
I guess the uniform in her eyes would be something that should devalue self in favor of unity and scientific achievement as well as dominance.
>>
>>33026106
Probably for the organization outfit, grunts would have a slick black leotard to wear, basic thick green pads on their arms and legs, sneakers that they can use for running quickly on missions.
They have a communicator assigned to each of them, in their ears at all times that allows them to talk to their team leaders and a small handheld computer to talk to each other.
Admins wear a special large computer on their non-dominant arm for data retrieval, upload, downloading, and just... whatever is necessary for the moment.
Even the handheld grunt computers are tethered to the Admin computer.
If compromised, they can easily take steps to destroy the gauntlet.
It is the source of all valuable knowledge gathered for the group, so it is important for them to keep it safe.
They look the most scientifically advanced with their goggles, gauntlets, glowing pulsating neon green lines on their suits, most of them usually wearing white instead of the usual black of the grunts to show almost a complete contrast. They rarely even fight battles on their own, but they generally don't notice what is going on until someone tells them that something is up.
A handler of an admin, another grunt usually needs to fight on their behalf with the Admin's Pokeballs due to circumstance.

Okay, so you say her Pokemon are "all mostly Psychic" but they're all Psychic. I'd want to see some diversity, especially for someone that treats their Pokemon as tools. What can one Psychic do better than any other, really? You've essentially got 6 wrenches and no screwdrivers, here. How about a Klinklang that helps her with mechanical shit? A Porygon she made herself? An electric type, maybe a Rotom? Plus, not for nothing, I don't exactly buy that this young agoraphobic nerd girl spent the time to train a Ralts into a Gardevoir, let alone a Beldum into a Metagross. She doesn't seem like the training sort, if Pokemon are her tools. You could make the argument that she's making her tools better, but I don't know. I might consider knocking the Metagross down to a Metang and swapping out Gardevoir and the lunar duo for more interesting shit.

The fledgling psychic thing is sort of weird. You don't need it to have a telepathic bond with Alakazam, that's all his powers and the power of friendship. I mean, Godot acts as her main form of communication, right? Other people don't need latent Psychic abilities to speak with Godot. I'd scrap it. She could just as easily be a huge nerd nobody liked without being extra gifted. It comes off as unnecessary, especially when she's already a science protege.

Speaking of, who hired her? She's working in an R&D lab, sure, but. For what firm? What did she do beforehand? I imagine she would have to have done something really impressive in her garage lab for a company to not only hire a sixteen year old, but a sixteen year old with crippling social anxiety.

Wait she left soon after getting to know Godot? When she was five? What? That's preposterous. I don't care how smart an Abra is, it and a little girl can't make it out in the world. Who let's a five year old on a boat with no adult supervision?

It all seems really loose and haphazard. Details need to be ironed out.
>>
>>33026743
I'm beginning to see the flaws now as well. She should've encountered someone who could've influenced her upbringing to make her become a lab worker. Someone who taught her everything she knows up till now.

Meanwhile, in the game room
>>
>>33026743
Hrm... you're right.
I did kinda throw the Psychic types all together for... a moot reason.
If I went with my old RP version of her, instead of the one I went with here. She was strictly agoraphobic, severe anxiety, and just emotionally damaged as well.
In the old RP version, her father inspired her, but her parents were partly responsible for her withdrawal from people.
He was a talented Pokemon Researcher, but he was a theorist and a rather unabashed one at that.
Most of his time was spent away from home, working on his own data, it was said that he didn't exactly intend to have a family in the first place.
His wife knew that, she simply needed him because she couldn't handle raising a child on her own without some degree of support, but it still felt like she was on her own without him coming home for weeks at a time.
Sara loved her father, she felt like she was always trying to vie for his attention, but it just never seemed like it was enough.
During the age of seven, she found Godot, they met and befriended each other.
Things are different, she actually stayed around for longer and kept Abra as her companion, her father saw this, impressed by his girl having a Pokemon that he was interested in studying, he decided to bring her with him. They worked together in his studies, she got to actually work with him in his projects, use some of his things, albeit, he had to teach her in very simplistic ways. He seemed almost condescending in his tone, not realizing just how much she seemed to study him, how often she read his research books, that she really did understand some of what he said.
Not everything, but she knew some of it.
It is funny, she even pointed out flaws in his theories, things that he didn't notice himself, points that he was too arrogant to admit were right.
He called her ignorant, that she was still a child, and that she didn't understand what she was reading.
>>
>>33026917
It felt like he shut himself down, she didn't understand his strange fixation on wanting to stay with something wrong.
She knew the truth, but she kept calm, Godot told her that much, they needed evidence and the right time.
They waited, gathering proof, it took some time, she needed to be older.
What they were doing was playing the long game, but they held onto the truth, just to keep it alive and solidly crystal.
Their father didn't have it yet, but they were closer than he ever was because he was blinding himself to something that they were willing to see.
She eventually revealed her findings to Professor Rowan, right in front of her father, with every ounce of proof and evidence she collected.
Her face beaming with confidence, she turned to him, but she thought he would be proud.
Instead, she saw venomous hatred.
"How could you hate me so much, you bitch..."
Those were the last words he ever spoke to her.
He disowned her, stating that such a daughter that could humiliate him like that was no daughter of his, he burned all of her things just to further prove his point.
Professor Rowan was of a different mindset, he was happy that she did such a thorough job with her research, even noting the length of time that she went through in studying it all.
He offered her a place to stay, she still found herself emotionally hurt from what had happened.
Losing her home, her family, she just... found herself feeling utterly unable to cope with it. She did recover a little, trying to help out with what she could in the lab, but her emotions just made her incapable of functioning around people.
Instead, she had to find new work behind the scenes, it was there that she was taught a little on electronics, gradually, she learned how to repair the machines in the lab.
This was something she learned over a course of a few years, she did grow to love it, even taking apart machines to rebuild them herself.

She left Sinnoh on her own as a sixteen year old with a team of Pokemon on her arsenal.
In this case, she wasn't a stowaway, but simply moving to a new place with all of her electronics and gear in lockdown.
In this case, she has some rudimentary understanding of Pokemon physiology, but it is starting to go compared to her more detailed understanding of electronics, wiring, data retrieval, and coding amongst other things.

Her main team in this case is...
>Godot - Alakazam
>Ozma - Rotom
>Deckard - Porygon2
>Maxwell - Bronzor

I dunno if I should add anymore, I don't know if she would have anything overly strong aside from Godot.
She isn't much of a fighter, I mean, I could have her have a couple attackers.
She should have had instances of combat, even in her case, but I don't think it would have been often enough for her to have been very experienced at it.

What do you think of her now, is she more cleared up now, or did I clutter her up more with her revised form?

In the past, I used her on Gaia Online, but she went by a different name.
In that game, she was an admin who worked for Team Eclipse (terrible name), her personality was much the same (minus the fanaticism).
Their whole goal was to pretty much succeed in recreating the universe.
God that was... I wanna say over five years ago. Or so.
For now. I have no idea where I would use her, I just wanted to make her, but I feel like I would love to put her somewhere if there is a place to drop her off at.

You're talking about "his studies," "knew the truth," "flaws in his theories," "every ounce of proof and evidence." That's all super, super vague. And I get that, you know. You don't necessarily have some big theory for the father to have researched. That'd require you to create a flawed theory and evidence against it. Which, that'd probably be kind of hard. But the way it reads now is weird, and dumb, and it doesn't really make sense. We don't have enough information on the academic side to have any context, it comes off--and this probably sounds meaner than I intend it to-- sort of as a child telling a story. "And then the princess went to the forest and got the sword so she could talk to the animals and the animals told her to go to the castle." What castle, what sword, what forest. "Sara looked at the research and saw the flaw in the research and she knew the truth so she got the evidence to support her claim." What research, what truth, what evidence.

I feel like Rowan would probably, I don't know. Fuckin' call somebody about the guy that called his daughter a bitch and burned all her shit. I mean I get that he's cool and all, but I can't help but feel like that's not really the right thing to for him to do? He'd take her away and call some equivalent of child protective services and say "hey this guy doesn't seem fit to be a father I'm pretty sure that counts as abuse, burning her stuff." Or at least do something else, call him out on his shit. There's got to be something between her father disowning her and her getting adopted. I would figure, I don't know, she's in a hospital for a while from her breakdown and starts to tinker to pass the time? Takes apart a radio and puts it back together again? Goes to live with her mother at the place where her father never really spends time at?? Not just getting passed off from Labdad to Rowan.

I feel like this is all better, but still needs work. Rough, but cohesive.

I see we had a lot of discussion early on. Great discussion too.

Alright, back and tired, let's try and shake things up a bit. How do your OCs handle very stressful situations? Do they keep their cool or start giving into panic or anything like that?

Crash half would, half wouldn't. In that time, he'd REALLY complain about people nagging him if someone urges him to do something like make a choice that could have grave consequences, and would try to take a bit to think before rushing right in. Sometimes, he's successful at coming with a loosely-laid plan, sometimes he'd simply leap into action, trusting what his gut tells him, for better or for worse.

If feasible in that time, he lets out some of his Pokemon for a boost of confidence, because without someone having his back, Crash starts hesitating, and he notices that, to some extent.
>>
>>33031516
Depends on the situation for Jake, normally he'll freak out a bit, but he'll also pull through if it means his pokemon's lives are on the line.
Tess normally keeps her cool, but can be thrown off, though that's not very often.
>>
>>33028030
Yeah, you're right about that.
It can be more specific that she was able to find some flaws in his research into... fuck, I really can't think of what it would be.
She had to basically read from his library, go out into the field with Godot and collect various items that she felt was important for her research (she caught Rotom during this instance), she knew her father was wrong mostly because... he was too blind to criticism and wasn't willing to admit he might be wrong.

She saw it as a game more than anything else, she wanted to prove him wrong.
He based everything on circumstantial evidence, nothing was concrete or even had material proof to show any hint of actually being real.
It just felt like he based all of his research on mostly, I saw it, I bet it is like this, and so it must be. He had written some good theorems and formulas to maintain his claim, some holding flimsily tight, but it felt just... wrong to her.

As for living with her mother, I guess that is a possibility, she can move out and they could live together.
Saara has to be in the hospital recovering, discovers her fondness for machines in there, then Rowan kindly offers to help her out, after she's gotten a little better, for her education.

I still need to think what lab daddy's theory might be on, but it is gradually coming together more and more.

Thank you so much though, you are really helping me out with you criticism.
And I sincerely mean it. It does mean a lot to me that you're taking your time to help me through this.

In a stressful situation, Saara would be retreating into her room, chewing on her nails (she has no nails usually) and having a private meeting with Godot on handling the situation.

If it was with people around her, depending on if they're shouting or just silently waiting on her for a reaction.

Any noisy group would earn Godot's ire, resulting in a sudden brisk blast of psychic energy to shut them up so Saara could talk. She simply can't talk over them otherwise, she can then try to "calmly" address them through her text-to-speech communicator. Godot acting as morale support for her.

Despite her nervousness, she is capable of speaking without any hesitation, completely appearing like a cold emotionless machine. Godot acting as her faithful companion, he can also maintain her composure, manipulating her emotions and controlling them so she is always collected and under control.
>>
Which voice actor would you want voicing your OC?
>>
>>33032121
>>33032121
Oh, there is no doubt in my mind that Saara would be voiced by Bridget Hoffman.
I actually thought of Serial Experiments Lain when I made her, and her voice in the anime was something that made me strongly commit to her.

A lot of Serial Experiments Lain has some influence in what I like about Saara (I changed her name a little to make it fit the Hindu name that means "princess".
Rakshi apparently means "protection".) so I guess she has some Indian in her or whatever it is in the Pokemon world.

If Volkov was to face a tough situation completely by his lonesome, depending on how stressful it is, he would either try to solve it with his improvised weapons or regress to alcohol.

If he were to face a problem with a bunch of people around him, he would be open for ideas on how to solve it. If they're at their wits' end getting to panic mode then, Volkov would shout out loud with a firm, authoritative tone to make them assert themselves. If that doesn't work, Goran would try demonstrate its dominance as well through displays of power.

There was a quest where Toplina and a couple of people had to deal with a raid boss that was a Dragon/Fairy Garchomp, and Top just froze up. She isn't exactly the best with overwhelming odds.
... To the point where the obvious wouldn't click, where one of the dudes on the quest mentioned that Toplina has a Pokedex to, y'know, check for weaknesses and such.
It's especially ironic when a lot of her Pokemon tend to lean on the fearless side of things, such as her Luxray bravely roaring at the face of danger, to her Pangoro RELISHING at the heart of fighting someone much tougher than her.

this is crazily complex, whats the backstory to it all?
>>
>>33035670
It's similiarly crazily complex. Thousands of years ago an alien terraformer arrived on Earth but then was trapped in another dimension by one of Orre's original legendary Pokemon, who became corrupted in the process and became what we think of as Missingno. This dimensional barrier steadily degraded until the trapped terraformer could influence people with a psychic aptitude to try and hasten its release.

The terraformer primarily targets members of the Loco Collective, scientists who are desperate to come up with a new energy source for Kanto's rapid growth and industrialization. The Loco Collective has resorted to secretly extracting Infinity Energy from Pokemon (the New Kanto Power Plant was presented to the public as a nuclear power plant, but in reality it's extracting energy from thousands of captured Pokemon at once), using a reminant of Team Rocket, the Shadow Raiders, to poach the needed Pokemon.

The terraformer lies to the Loco Collective, promising to give them a source of abundant energy so that they can stop using Infinity Energy, if only it will somehow free it. Early in the story, the Loco Collective denotates a rocket full of concentrated Infinity Energy in an attempt to pierce into the dimensional prison, but this fails and only succeeds in breaking down the local laws of physics, causing the portals to appear and a flood of non-native Pokemon to infest Kanto.

The player has to confront the Shadow Raiders to stop their poaching and try to prevent the Loco Collective from launching a second, more refined rocket, which DOES open up a huge portal into the terraformer's prison dimension.

The S.S. Anne wreck and the Dead Sector are the results of the Loco Collective's early attempts to harvest Infinity Energy. The Dead Sector in particular was a test to extract Infinity Energy directly from the environment rather than individual Pokemon. The result was its complete ecological breakdown within two months.

The idea that he's wrong because he's not willing to admit he's wrong seems circular and flawed. Take Labdad's perspective and assume he's right. Okay, well. Of course he's going to ignore his annoying kid's criticisms. She's a kid, he's college educated, he's got proof. There might be something to be said for the mouth of babes, yeah, but he's got all this research and science bullshit backing him up. And she just feels its wrong? So?

Labdad feels really strawmannish right now. The idea that he's basing his whole deal on anecdotal evidence and assumptions feels super unscientific. I think, if Labdad and his research are going to be such an essential cornerstone to Saara's mental and emotional development, he needs to be written as a better character with a better theorem. Like, Saara's character hinges on this whole thing, here.

My main--okay, only-- OC's father was educated. Not a proper Professor, just something of a scholar. He Majored in History, and focused on Pokemon Interaction through Human Development-- how Pokemon have influenced mankind technologically and culturally throughout the ages. Like the value of Grass and Water types in the Agrarian age, or the sometimes unethical utilization of Electric and Steel types during the Industrial Revolution. He also has a minor in Lit but that doesn't matter as much.

So that's like, a clear field of study, there. It doesn't come up, because the character in question isn't booksmart in the slightest (which proved a pretty big disappointment to his now deceased father) but it's still outlined and concrete.

Make an area of Pokéstudy. Labdad was interested in Godot? Maybe something to do with Psychic types, the nature of their powers and why people are psychic sometimes too. That could be good. Or some other shit. I don't know. That's the starting point though, I think.

Criticism is an integral part of the creative process. Citing flaws gives you the opportunity to correct or justify them. Just helpin'.
>>
All this talk about labdads and brainiacs and such..

What makes a Pokemon Professor a Pokemon Professor, and not just any other scientist? I mean, Bill was a super smart dude, he invented the Pokemon storage system, had all that info on Eeveelutions, hell, he even got turned into a Pokemon hybrid for a minute. But he's only ever referred to as a Pokemaniac. Whereas Oak, Elm, Rowan, etc.. they just hand you a low level Pokemon and an EMPTY pokedex, but they're Professors? If they know so much about Pokemon WHY ARE THE POKEDEXES EMPTY?
>>
>>33037829
who's to say. i mean in black and white you see juniper conducting field research on klink despite klink not being in the pokedex automatically once she gives it to you, so it's not like she doesn't know it exists. i think the pokedex is mostly just a cataloging tool rather than a "we just found out this thing exists this very second" deal. also as far as giving the player a dinky level 5 starter, i think it's safer to give young children something small and relatively harmless to start off with, something that's more likely to listen to the kid as well. rowan says as much in dppt, like "these pokemon are new to this world, much like you" or something like that. it's like asking "why do i have to start learning to ride this bike with training wheels, just give me my damn motorcycle."
>>
>>33037894
Also wonder, why do starter Pokemon now have the professors at their ots? Or whoever hatched then. When you hatch a Pokemon from an egg, it starts at level 1, and whoever hatched it is it's ot. Things like this bug me when I know they shouldn't.
>>
>>33037933
well it's not like they trade you the mon, which is when you typically get a different ot, giftmons in the game typically have you as the ot so i don't see why starters are any different. there's a few exceptions sure, but not enough to make starters be the exception to the rule themselves.
>>
>>33037829
>What makes a Pokemon Professor a Pokemon Professor, and not just any other scientist?
Having a degree might help.
No, seriously, I honestly think it's a difference in recognition. Like, a ghost fanatic might be labelled a nutjob, but gives him his own show and he's suddenly the "paranormal investigator".
>>
>>33037829
So, first off, all "official" Pokemon Professors dole out Pokedexes/starters to trainers, and they're all experts on the Pokemon of their respective regions. But they're not the only ones to give out starters-- Norman loans Wally his Zigzagoon to catch his first 'mon, so that's not the only method available. Just the one in the games. I could totally see major town figures helping trainers catch/giving them their starters.Plus there's the plant motif. That's super important. Can't be a prof if you're not a tree also.

I'd say one of the most defining aspects of a Pokemon Professor is active, ongoing research and study of Pokemonkind. It's not enough to just be knowledgeable of a subject or invent some important shit. You need to be working on figuring out some mysterious aspect of Pokemon as a whole, whether that be how they breed, how they survive, how friendship influences them and allows them to Mega, what have you.

There are tons of nerds, scientists, archaeologists, and bookworms in the games and shows. Plenty of NPCs are dedicated to academic pursuits. But they're not necessarily learning about Pokemon, and their areas of study aren't necessarily about ALL Pokemon. Like, you've got Cosmo in RSE/ORAS, and he's all about meteors. There's some overlap with Pokemon there, Lunatone and Solrock and shit. That's not the focus, though. Bugsy is a bug type researcher/specialist. Just bugs. There was that one guy in the anime that pretty much only studied Slowpoke and Slowbro, another that did Gulpin, and Cynthia's grandmother is dedicated to Sinnoh's history and the Creation legends which are only like four guys, Meanwhile, Professor Ivy was all about regional differences, and that's about Pokemonkind as a whole, so she's in. The Professors are experts on a subject of Pokemon as a whole. Other respectable dudes branch off into more granular areas of study, which makes them experts in certain Pokemon, or even other subjects.

I've got an idea for an OC tvillan team, though it's stupid fanfic bullshit.

A kingdom from many many years in the past that was sucked into ultra space via a wormhole, tentatively called the "Alter" kingdom

They try and find a way back into the other world, but find out that due to living in ultra space for so many years, they've gone beyond being fallers, and are more akin to ultra beings themselves, and can't surivive in our world very long.

So they go back and forth between the worlds, trying to find a way to sustain themselves in the other world.

Maple (redhead loli) doesn't lose her cool right away, partly because she has zero chill to begin with; confronted with overwhelming odds, she still communicates strategy to others, opens with things like Screens/Tailwind/etc, but also starts thinking of the absolute most potent way of dealing damage, with a total disregard for its actual chance of success and difficulty, and sets her mind to the very first thing she comes up with. Even if things go really south, she doesn't really get very incoherent, just really pissed and more reckless.

Jane (chubby nerd in the swimsuit pic above) clams up at first, hides behind her tanks (which make up the majority of her team) or others, sticks to safe tactics while protecting herself. The worse things get from there, the less careful she gets, to the point of in one case hooking her Torkoal to a crane she took control of, then swinging him towards a boss like a giant lava-spewing flail.

Wendy (nugget) was basically Maple but way worse, shit like having her Ivysaur use her like a bludgeon held in his vines, or being thrown at something and then biting down on it and holding for dear life; along with having crazy pain tolerance, she's obsessed with making up for her disability. But terrible rolls and failed tactics have been leading her towards less haphazard approaches, as she is beginning to accept her limits and put more faith into her team, as well as her developing Aura affinity she doesn't quite know about yet.

Wilhelmine (pic related, an alchemist) is un-stressable. I imagine if she did notice herself becoming frantic, she'd brew herself something to calm her nerves or at worst make her trip out a little.

I kinda answered this mostly regarding combat situations, I dunno if I could give a simple answer otherwise.

How did I miss this post before?

Cam doesn't stress. Most of the time, he causes the stress. When faced with a situation he doesn't like, he will literally turn and walk away. When challenged to a battle he doesn't want to fight, he'll just say "nah" and walk off. When something big happens and shit is going down all around him, he'd be the one to stand there, stratch himself somewhere, and go "oh, that's a thing that happened". And it's entirely possibly that if someone, like a bad guy, were to go off on a long winded monologue, that he might possible fall asleep during it, or start playing a vidya, or anything else that demonstrates his utter disinterest. Think Saitama from one punch man. That "Ive seen so much shit I just don't care anymore" type personality.

The ONLY time he really freaks out is when he's on a plane or boat, in which case he can usually be found somewhere curled up, unresponsive and sobbing.

I'm particularly amused with the level of physicality coming from the girl with zero limbs. It's fun to imagine a no-armed girl flying at someone, torpedo-style, ready to kick some ass as best she can in desperate times.

That being said, nicely-drawn alchemist. I do like a good alchemist myself, thanks to MMOs.

>>33044672
You're probably right about that, although it's still pretty fun to have thread like these around. It's not usual that you have places here to unleash and display the creative autism that is OCs.

Anyways, I've got one more question to ask, for now. A darker turn from the usual exploration. How would your OC react to one of their Pokemon, excluding their star Pokemon, dying from unfortunate events? As an extra add-on to this question, from someone killing it.

If a team member died on its own, Crash would be in denial for a little bit. No way that his the number one's Pokemon could kick the bucket like that. Then it's a gradual break-down into despair. Screaming will almost certainly be involved. Probably a few tears too. It's take a while for him recover from that Pokemon's death, and during that time, his confidence, his perkiness, his loud-mouthed personality would be to a minimum. To a friend, though, he'd fake happiness to get anyone to not be concerned. He'd still accept a battle, anytime, but his morale would be low, and his coordination would be sloppy. Clearly not 100%. All in all, sad times.

Now if someone, like a human, were to kill his Pokemon, take everything you'd read above, along with, between the denial period and the despair period, Crash'll burn with rage and have his Pokemon go all out on the offender. Attacking them until they couldn't move, and then some. Crash wouldn't care, even if it was a human. He'd also hold a grudge again that particular Pokemon, or villainous humans. and will most certainly be more ruthless and angry with them on another encounter.

Starla's is her butler, who decided to escort her on her journey when she came of age.
Denji's was a Pokemon his father gave him, as an experiment to see if a trainer and Pokemon's bond could overcome pure, raw battling ability.
Then Ming-Ming's was a stray she found at the dojo and nursed back to health.
I could ramble for paragraphs about my OCs' backgrounds, but I wouldn't want to clutter up the thread.

I'm actually planning a part where one of the side characters loses a Pokemon, and Cam has a flashback scene to when he was a younger trainer and had one of his own Pokemon pass away. I think most trainers consider there Pokemon a tier or two higher than what people consider their pets irl, so it's always emotional when one passes away, but I think, in general, they're still not really groeved as much as humans. But Cam sees human Pokemon relations a little differently (I'm not talking about fuggery, either), so when his poke died, it really hit him hard. Especially since if was something he had no control over, like a disease or something. Years later, and he still takes a day to honor the memory or his fallen comrad.

Also, I dont plan on going full darko with my story, but there will be Pokemon that die, and people too. Super rarely, but not every character is gonna make it to the end.

>14 - mount tempest - a stormy mountain where gale force winds howl without end. on its peak is a weather research station.
>15 - reservoir - a former river valley that was flooded when the river flowing through it was dammed off to bring hydroelectric power to the nearby city. for some reason, the reservoir is teeming with dratini.

>17 - wellspring mountain - one must cross through tempest mountain, then ascend a great waterfall simply to enter this system of caves, making it a hideout for only the most elite trainers.
>18 - altar of the drake - a primeval temple to dragon pokemon located in the heart of a sprawling city, which most of the residents come to for worship
>19 - splitrock peak - the taller side of mount splitrock is even more dangerous than the other. to keep people safe, the mountain is closed off to trainers with less than eight badges.
>20 - victory road - the ultimate test for many trainers is an inhospitable rocky island beaten mercilessly by the surf. those who enter hoping to reach the polemon league not find mercy either.
post - elite 4 content
>21 - victory bridge - a recently finished bridge that connects cape karp to the mainland
>22 - clawmark creek - a long boardwalk stretches out over this river of saltwater that fills and drains out to sea with the tide, where marine and land pokemon coexist.
>23 - bottomless trench - several miles beneath the surface of the ocean, this unfathomably dark abyss is only accessible in a submarine designed to withstand the crushing pressures.
>24 - wavecrest dunes - the untrained eye would mistake this long, narrow isthmus of beach for a desert. this beach is the favorite vacation spot for many famous trainers.

So I starting playing Blaze Black 2 again last night (thanks Drayano) and I started making a few of my own changes and tweaks to Pokemon and moves. So here my question for this morning. If it were up to you, what Pokemon/moves would you change?
>>
>>33048411
Switch Klinklang's attack stats, switch its defense and speed and finally give it No Guard.
>>
>>33046734
Oh wow, now that sounds like something laced with feels, without being too dark. Love it, love everything about it.

>>33048460
Give Vespiquen Queenly Majesty, give it Work Up.

Give Whimsicott a +28 in Special Attack, +10 in Special Defense, and +10 in Defense. Oh, also give it Spore, because who doesn't love cheap sleep?
>>
>>33048411
Heal Block stops the afflicted from using items as well as natural means of recovery.
>>
>>33049273
>Prankster Spore
Your personal bias towards Whimsicott is blinding you.

Let Belossom learn Fiery Dance.
>>
>>33050078
That last one was sorta a joke.

Because then Spore might become the next Dark Void, and we don't want that.

That being said, let Lilligant learn Fiery Dance first. It was in Alola and it already has a myriad of dance moves, so why not?

My biggest changes so far

Pokemon
Charizard Fire/Dragon
Blastoise Water/Steel
Butterfree Bug/Psychic
Fearow Flying/Dark
Geodude line Rock only
Ninetails Fire/Ghost (almost went with Psychic but I figured Ghost fits the whole nine tailed demon/spirit wolf thing)
I made Dragonair and Dragonite a split evo rather than three stages because I hate seeing something as majestic as Dragonair evolve into a big orange retard.
Dragonair Dragon/Water
Dragonite Dragon/Flying
Sunflora Grass/Fire
Sceptile Grass/Dragon
Masquerain Bug/Water
Luxray Electric/Dark
Spritomb Ghost/Rock
Serperior Grass/Dragon
Samurott Water/Fighting
Timbur Fighting/Grass
Gurdurr Fighting/Steel
Conkledurp Fighting/Rock
Gothitelle like Psychic/Dark
Klink line Steel/Electric

A lot of those a meme changes, but I agree with em. I changed around some level up moves, changed a few move types, and mostly, I reduced the attack power of a lot of moves, simply because I hate how the late game turns into a ohko fest. But that's just me.

I didn't realize someone asked this. Toplina would be voiced by Cristina Vee, mostly because Vee can really sell a good deep voice (A la Cerebella)
