Absolutely. I tend to find more pokemon I like throughout each region more than the starters themselves. My autism does not allow me to have type overlaps so I tend to sacrifice the starter.

Checking the tags on e6, Torterra is the only one with less than 100. Next is Meganium with less than 200, tough Chikorita and Bayleef both have a fair share. Emboar comes third (last) with 221.

Fire: Delphox, just because I'm a sucker for wizards. Otherwise Infernape.
Water: Feraligatr. Generally don't care much for water starters, though.
Grass: Torterra, love its design and concept. Greass in general is my favorite starter type generally.

I feel that Typhlosion misses a lot of what I love about Cyndaquil. Blaziken's fans have been getting really obnoxious recently, and although it carried me through Gen III as a kid, I never really liked the design all that much.
