The exact same game with the exact same assets, but expanded.
It is firmly my belief that Sun and Moon were released way before they were finished because they needed something big for the 20th Anniversary. So they took what they had, doctored up the plot, and released the game to make money. Now they are (re)releasing an actually finished product that they had time to put all the bells and whistles on to impress people and make even more money. It's certainly not any shadier than anything a western company has done and it's probably going to work.
