I could see that design more as a mid evo between stufful and bewear than a replacement for bewear itself.

Most mons only need minor detail alteration to work for me. I've always wanted to see what conkeldurr and gurdurr would look like if they had more well thoughtout head design instead of just a random lump and a clown nose that comes out of nowhere considering the way timburr looks.

But mostly I think it's the pose. The edit was done in the same pose as Rhydon, which doesn't help its case. Otherwise, there's a few more changes there (second horn, eyebrows, Protector slabs, tail, hands, chest) than, say, Quilava -> Typhlosion.
