Maybe it's because I've focussed solely on upgrading berries and not training, but this update was the longest it took me to beat EL1. At least I'm close to beating EL2 now.
I have just been able to get the orange forehead pattern thus far. The new patterns seem to be about as rare as the shiny one. I'm lacking two of the new events, which don't seem to want to appear.

Same, the JP values are starting to rise faster than you can level up. I'm at EL3 and it's taking ages.

I already got all four within like 3 days, and I still miss Purple Patches and Apricot Tiger. Brown Tiger was a bitch to get as well, I only ever got one and all the other Apricots and Browns I get are Zebra and Stripes.

Still waiting for 150% coin carp. I wonder how many new stuff will come out in the next update, they should release an option to trade our candies with JP, coins or some shit.

Just decided to start a new run simultaneously to my regular run, which is stagnating. I've decided to do the 2berry strat on 1.0.2 and aim to complete the game as fast as possible and buy all the items.
How long does it generally take for the 2berry strat to take off?

It's gotten to the point where I'm not really progressing. Upgrades are expensive, diamonds are hard to grind, and there's really not much left to do except waiting for next update.

Not that long but the longer you play, the less 2berry shines over just getting all berries since you'll eventually max them all anyway.
Especially if you're actually trying to buy everything in which case you'll eventually hit level 61 instantly either way and it's actually harder to get just enough JP to beat the last dude but not to hit the level cap.

100 diamonds on 1.0.2 is nothing. That takes maybe 30 minutes if you're slow and don't play super efficiently.
I usually make 500+ diamonds a day but that's just because it eventually just gets super tedious and I have to quit out of boredom, not because I couldn't get even more.

Luvdisc can also spawn Shiny and supposedly the same for Feebas. Shiny Manaphy is currently just a myth fitting, considering it's probably one of the most painful things to Shiny hunt in core series, as the effort you need to get just one, non-repeatable attempt, is huge

New to this game but I had to ask. I just started playing this and I got a shiny Magikarp in gen 3 alone, now did i actually get very lucky or is that a fixed encounter?

I was starting to feel this way too. Even with all food items at Lv. 75 with Shaymin, it's taking forever past the 1.00G mark.
Should I save up more coins to get everything to 100, or actually spend on some training? I would only put it into Pokeball Smash, since I believe that scales based on Trainer Rank (regardless of what level it is).

You have to upgrade training, there's no way around it late-game. I'm at level 75 for everything except the last two foods and berries, it makes a huge difference being able to do 6 training every 90 minutes that give you at least 50m each on the low end, and average 100-200m.

That's what I figured. The new JP requirements, in addition to adding the Eevee support, made me realize that they maybe re-did the game because they read enough guides online that said training was only good for events.

I'm probably just going to keep at it, though. I don't mind waiting a bit longer to reach max level, since reaching it will be inevitable anyway. I just want to max all my berries now I easily can. I prefer doing the training for the events without gaining too much JP so I don't have to go through the league when I don't really feel like playing.

Food is not as good as trainings in the long run.
It's a bit more consistent and still useful to have it high if you spam Snorlax, but popping your 3 +3 from Piplup trainings and getting Golem or Soccer Smash can net you 1.00 G+ at 75+ in a go.
Sure, you can get fucked in the ass by getting Sandbag Slam 3 times in a row, but you're likely to get at least one decent regime every 6 tries and the top 2-3 ones are worth it.

75 on Sitrus sounds like you should not be even on late game desu, after hitting 75 on every bougth food keep the JP output around the same number (with the exception of level 100 items or Magikarp Biscuit if you went for them)

but you could use the free skill restore from lets push it to get 2 more rowlet procs
