That game doesnt bring people together. people still pack their phone away when others with phones cross them, they are still nervous and dont want to expose that they are playing it, and they tend to stand for themselves because others could be better than you and tell you how shit you are.

The whole "Go out and explore" aspect is dead, and the "meet people, make friends and play together" deteriorates more and more as time passes by.

It doesn't help that gyms don't really encourage 'team play'. Even if you're on the same team it's awkward to take a gym together, because you know that once one of you puts a Pokémon in, the other will have to wait ten minutes. You also can't explore together, because if you find a gym with only one slot you'll have to fight for it.

At least raids kind of encourage team play, but even that not very well. Oh, there's a Tyranitar raid on the edge of town in an hour? Great! Go stand there for an hour and hope that people show up!

raids are about the only thing they've added that encourages team play.

its really sad how much potential this game has and the team behind it cant seem to come up with how to make it work right. I dont mean bugs and stuff I mean the core way the game plays should be simple to tweak a few things and make it encourage you to go out and meet other people playing, again raids are the only thing that has done this and its shallow at it.

pvp/trading is the fix the game needs desperately.
