Been thinking about this waaay too much lately. How do things work in the Pokemon world work? The simplest things that we take for granted. Like pokecenters.

They offer their services completely free of charge to any Pokemon trainer, ya? Ok. Who pays for it? Come on. Someone has to be footing the bill. Is there some sort of universal tax on Pokemon related items that goes to fund all pokecenters services?

TM/HMs. They appear as disk like items in the item menu in games. Dunno if they've ever been referenced in any other form of media.. but, like. How do they work? How does the knowledge of how to throw bolts of lightning or breath fire go from a disk to your Pokemon's brain?

How the fuck do pokeballs and transferring Pokemon work? Like.. how does it compress a Pokemon that weighs several hundred pounds into light or energy or whatever into a ball that can change sizes its own damn self? And how can you store those balls full of Pokemon light energy in a computer like some old porn vid you download snd never watch again?

Also, lots of other things I can't remember at the moment. Please help me make this stuff make sense!!
>>
>>32937595
the best theory ive heard for TM/HMs are that they are discs that your pokemon watch and that's how they learn it. still not very good but i havent heard much better
>>
I always looked at TM/HMs as working like this.

There is a disk drive on pokeballs where you insert the disk and the data is transfered onto the pokemon while it's inside
>>
>>32937613
Made me remember pic related

>>32937650
I like that idea. That's a neat idea.
>>
>>32937697
>pic related
>forgets pic
>>
>>32937595
The only logical explanation I can come up with for Pokemon being able to be put in balls, computers and learn things from discs is that they're made out of data/information of some sort. This is what separates them from humans or any real animals that are brought up now and then. This would explain why people trying to make a Pokemon from scratch resulted in a computer-based Pokemon like Porygon.

I wager the reason why you could only use TMs once up until Gen V was because the Pokemon assimilated the data into itself, removing it from the disc.
>>
Idk OP but here's my head cannon >pokemon are converted into energy when they're in balls

>this process is painless apparently but wild mons will try to fight back for obvious reasons

>after they're converted into energy they're semi taimed and its up to the trainer to continue to train and taim them

>when they're energy and inside balls they can be healed via a form of radiation and the energy can be converted into data that can be uploaded into computers

>tms are open source software and the list of moves on them can can vary between regions/countries

>the tms received an update in the form of new hardware between gen 4 and 5 so they no longer break after use

>HMs aren't open source, they're proprietary software distributed by the league of the region(s)

>the pokemon league just a type of sports league, its not a form of government
>>
the whole pokemon world doesn't make sense

things just magically work because technology that is never explained in any way
energy seems to be near limitless and is of no concern to anybody, I guess pokemon take care of generating it, as well as much of the manual labor
economy makes no sense, money seems to be limitless (perhaps there's a different currency for pokemon related things than real life things)
the whole world revolves around 10 year olds somehow safely roaming all over the place, everyone acts like its your birthday and gives you free shit for no real reason
even villains follow the rules (other than breaking laws), they don't gang up on you all at once, they give you money when you win, tell you vital passwords and hand over items, and are often weirdly friendly despite doing bad things

it's all how a kid would think the world works, and that's the only explanation i can think of that fits everything. nothing in the game is represented correctly, you're just viewing it through the lens of a child prodigy who can command pokemon like no other
>>
>>32938513
money being limitless is probably more of a gameplay thing than a thing of the world
>>
>>32937706
This would be okay if it were a Gallade and not some human at the end.

Pokefuckers need to be gassed.
>>
>>32937595
Tms have been portrayed in electric tale of pikachu and are way better there than cds the mom somehow absorbs and you somehow cant copy.

>>32938097

Yeah, I always assumed the pokemon are turned into energy, so mass doesnt matter,to fit in the balls. Granted, you'd need a fuckton of energy and raping the entropy law of thermodinamics but what have you.

As for the open source thing, makes sense, i'm replaying yellow and some tms are said or implied to have been created by the npc that gives it.

>>32938538
Like /vp/ even knows the difference. I dont think money is seems limitless, you get some from trainers but you grind it from the elite 4 whose money probably comes from the league organization, but its not like you generate it out of nowhere.
>>
Pokemon center services are run from tax money.

>Judging something based solely on one image
According to your post, I judge you as a retard who likes to fuck Pokemon.
>>
>>32938553
Meh, I didn't make it, I just saved it.

But I'd fuck the every loving shit out of a Gardevoir, given the chance. Won't even lie. But hey, I'm sure you get off to shit you can't/won't ever do irl too, so I won't judge. Or maybe you don't, what do I know? Anyways.

I kind of always got the feeling that pokedollars are basically equivalent to an American dime. Like, p200 is basically $20.00. Make sense for most equations, not so much for others, but it's the headcanon I go by. So when that first trainer you beat gives you that p58, you're really only getting like $5.80. And those basic pokeballs you buy? $20 a pice.

Bikes are still waaaaay over priced in the Pokemon world, no matter how you look at it.

>pokedollars are basically equivalent to an American dime
Shouldn't the closest equivalent be Japanese yen? I mean, the games are made in Japan, so it's more likely the prices are perceived according to them.
Unless they change the value during localization of course, in which case, just ignore this post.
>>
>>32938997
I actually think Pokedollars are probably meant to be seen as similar to yen (which is worth slightly less than a US penny). I believe the prices of drinks in vending machines supports this idea: bottled water costs 200p, which means it would cost a bit under $2 if one assumes a Pokedollar is worth the same as a yen... but if one instead assumes it's worth the same as a dime, the same bottled water would cost a bit under $20, which I think is unreasonable.
>>
>>32939064
>>32939115
I don't know anything about Yen so I'll have to take y'all's word for it but that does make sense.
>>
I'm more disturbed that each game's player's money supply is funded entirely by theft.

I mean you're just taking other trainers' money. Where are they getting it from? Their parents/jobs? Pokemon training sounding like a damn pricey hobby, then.
>>
>Poke Centers
Free health care
>>
>>32939156
I've seen this mentioned somewhere before, but it's not "theft", per se.
You know how in games like cockfighting they bet their money on who will win the fight? It's exactly like that.
The money you lose and the money you get aren't stolen; you lost/got them by winning the bet.
Of course, if it's wild Pokemon you probably just dropped your wallet while running away.
>>
>>32939156
I forgot the main part: the where.
It depends on what kind of trainers we're talking about.
The younger-looking trainers most likely got it from their parents.
The older ones most likely have jobs, so it's from their own wallet.
>>
>>32939237
Now explain Pay Day
>>
>>32937697
>>32937650
You place TMs on your mons heads a la FRLG, this imprints the move into their movepool.
>>
The world of Pokemon takes place in a post-scarcity, Utopian society where the law is deterrence visa vi Pokemon ownership. This is evident since dedicated children seem to be easily capable of overthrowing even large crime organizations. As long as people have powerful monsters as leverage ageinst those that would do them harm, as well as the Pokemon League acting as de facto paramilitary in case of real emergencies.
>>
How would gym battles realistically work? I remember reading something on this board about how someone thought that showing immense skill in spite of a loss against a gym leader possibly netting you a badge still.
>>
>>32939384
Gameplay mechanics.
Yeah, I really wish I have something better to explain it with.
Other explanations include:
>Magic
>The Pokemon that use Pay Day picks up coins on the ground and throw it at the opponent. The winning trainer picks those coins up after
>It's part of the rules: "If the opposing trainer were to use Pay Day, increase your bet money by x amount. Also, throw those money at YOUR Pokemon"
>>
I feel like doing real work nets you a few million a month because throwing some sea cucumber pokemon back in the ocean pays you 50k.
>>
>>32939424
Its as you say: Beat the leader and get the badge. But realistically, a ten year old beginner would get his shit stomped by a mid twenties trainer, so I say it would be based off a ranking system.
>>
>>32939526
20000¥ is only around $200. If anything, it's just $1400 a week.
>>
>>32939424
>>32940222 (me)
Such as like for a bronze level badge, the beginner will do a menial challenge
For silver, the trainer will fight the trained gym trainers
For gold (or color), the trainer will fight the actual gym leader.
There are bronze, silver, and gold divisions in the league, with the winner of the gold league fighting the elite four and champion.
>>
>>32940235
Meaning $72,800 as a salary. Thats fucking awesome
>>
>>32937595
>They offer their services completely free of charge to any Pokemon trainer, ya? Ok. Who pays for it? Come on. Someone has to be footing the bill. Is there some sort of universal tax on Pokemon related items that goes to fund all pokecenters services?
State. Public healthcare is pretty common in some places in the world.

>TM/HMs. They appear as disk like items in the item menu in games. Dunno if they've ever been referenced in any other form of media.. but, like. How do they work? How does the knowledge of how to throw bolts of lightning or breath fire go from a disk to your Pokemon's brain?
In the manga, trainers see the level of their Pokémon in the Pokédex. I think their Pokéballs and Pokédex are connected, so, I think they can learn moves inserting the disc in the dex.

>How the fuck do pokeballs and transferring Pokemon work? Like.. how does it compress a Pokemon that weighs several hundred pounds into light or energy or whatever into a ball that can change sizes its own damn self? This is magic.
>>
>>32939424
>>32940222
I like how it's shown in Pokémon Origins. Like, Brock is the first Gym and he will use a unexperienced team to fight trainers with no badges. He probably has a fucking strong team as well as his main.
