Besides, Gen 4 Empoleon was crazy with all of its resistances and Torterra was just a solid pick overall. They were all good. Chimchar and Infernape just got necked with their designs.

Infernape is a very hit or miss Pokemon. Yo either love him or hate him. I personally really like its design and how it's based it off sun wukong, and I think it pulls it of perfectly. plus he's really fun to use big game and in comp but I can see why you wouldn't like him.

heracrossfag here. It's presence in many regions and its high stats and dual 120bp stabs make it a top tier bro in any game it's in. The design is also great, taking inspiration from japanese beetle fighting.

haunter was my bro in gens 1-3 because i liked ghost and poison types but didnt have friends to trade with. gengar in comparison is also kinda underwhelming (not in gsc though) since its a ball with arms with a lame cry. i dont really mind gengar, i just like haunter better.

Arceus' biggest problem is the kind of expectations it betrays. The creator of the pokemon universe, maybe even multiverse, can be captured by a 10 year old kid and will obey without question if they have 8 little trinkets. It also let them run around with items capable of containing them. It also just created the universe and does basically nothing else, only intervening in cases where they run out of legendaries in the Hoopa movie. Hell, Giratina, who's banished, intervenes in Gen 4 before Arceus does, so that role is already filled. Arceus is a powerhouse among legendaries and certainly can lay a smackdown on cover legendaries, but for, you know, GOD, it's kinda underwhelming. Rampardos and Slaking are
more physically strong than God, Swellow and Electrode are speedier, etc.

Also, I just beat God with a Magikarp thanks to Baton Pass. There's a sentence nobody's going to mind. Arceus fans, please elaborate... It was number 2 behind Greninja in the popularity poll in Japan, so I know it counts as popular.

Apart from arguably Giratina and Cresselia, I don't really like ANY of Sinnoh's legendaries. Most of them are just kind of designed in that "what the fuck am I actually looking at" way, there's way too many mythicals, the lake trio look pretty much the same and it took me years to figure out which was Uxie and which was Mesprit, Manaphy looks like ass, Phione is the most pointless mon of all, and Shaymin was pointless.

Also don't like Blaziken at all, looks really weird. I think Infernape, Emboar, and Incineroar all look way better. Blaziken is probably my least favourite evolved starter mon in the entire franchise.

While I don't dislike Gyarados, Nuzlocking games make you really sick of it. Sick of nearly every villain using one, sick of you being guaranteed to have one if you choose, what's the point of having this "hard work "allegory mon if Magikarp is obtainable literally everywhere?
