Also, I'd recommend using a Sneasel with Brick Break. If you need one, I have plenty. I would say use Weavile, but with Pressure, Sandshrew will lose more PP, but may call more.

Groudon does most of the work, and I've got a solgaleo as backup.

that's 35 sandshrew down (well, 34 and an ice cream).

Solgaleo's a waaaay better pick than groudon. takes less damage, and crunch is good for taking down the little dudes.

Well, after a certain number of encounters, I have this anxiety where I'm sure of it that the Pokemon won't shine, especially after 200. If I don't get it between now and 200, the chain's pretty much dead, and that's the way it's been for me 85% of the time.

Someone may have a verbal guide on YouTube, and I think Smogon has an article about it somewhere. If you want (as what I'm still trying to do), you can attempt to "Cute Charm" your game, meaning that under the effects of a lead Pokemon with Cute Charm and a TID and SID being somewhere between 1 and about 100 in difference from each other, you can find shiny Pokemon of a certain bracket of genders, as well as a set gender, but you'd have to soft-reset to the title screen of your game to figure that out. Here's a link for that in the Smogon article. The top link on the page also has stuff about RNG Manipulation.

What some people do is use an Action Replay to see what their SID is in their game. It's still considered legitimate, as long as you don't manipulate your TID or SID in any way. I've watched this video with Alex (aka Hamsterbomb) and I'm trying to get into the right bracket. The series itself is pretty cool, and I'll hopefully be able to get Cute Charm on my HeartGold when I get it for shits and giggles.

I only started really keeping track of all my hunts this gen but 10 eggs for Stunky and around 1700 for Cubone. I had a longer hunt in gen 5 which was about 2500 eggs for Cottonee.

Shortest was zubat. I wasn't even trying for a shiny yet because I didn't have 6IV parents but he came out with 4 perfect IVs and only after two eggs.
