What's the main reason you play Pokemon?

I've always liked the idea of cataloguing animals and creatures in some sort of bestiary. An inclusion of a bestiary, like the pokedex, or the one in witcher, immediately make a game more enjoyable.


Also seeing the growth of things you raised seems satisfying to humans in general. (even if the games are super easy) I guess it's the same as the sense of "thriving" people get when playing survival games.

It has an "aura" that keep me playing around the years, no matter what. I play since 17 years ago and it's the game that maked me spend more hours by far in my life. It's just fun and comfy. It's a feeling that I can't explain with words, I guess

I also enjoy exploring the region, but it seems these new games leave a lot less for the imagination and therefore limit that part.

In my dreams early in life I remember having recurring/connecting dreams in where people called me Adam, I could see Pokémon - not all the Pokémon that exist today but I remember two specifically Bulbasaur and Pikachu. I couldn't tell the types, that I had to guess on my own. "Catching" them was realizing they existed with knowing the type as well. No one else knew about it until I told my wife.

That's the reason I still play the card game, in the dream I'm the one who made it by creating crappy versions of cards - I don't think they even had anything on the backs, I don't believe I had decided on it yet.

That's the reason I play Pokémon - I had dreams about it and sometimes still do.

I had another dream where someone asked me, "Okay Garrett, are you ready to lose your favorite game?" while holding a deck of Pokémon cards. I thought quickly with a response, "Pokémon isn't my favorite game." Then I begin building a Yu-Gi-Oh deck and winning. But the thing is - Pokémon isn't a game to me. It's so much more than that.

I don't think the new games are as linear as people say they are but I really think Sun and Moon are hurt in the fact that Alola is a pretty undeveloped island. While that's not a bad location for a game to take place in, It does seem to leave part of the map to feel like repeats of the same coastal path. I still think 7th gen has had the best story for a pokemon game in a long time.

Adventure around a new world with Pokémon that are my friends. Liked that type of adventures since I was a child. That's why I don't like the new games, too much story. And >>32923243.

I don't know how else to word it but, "Experience"

I don't care much about story, and while I'm mainly in it for battles, I need a "fun" region to explore while doing it. Preferably one that's nice and linear for the main game, to get that good level curve, but then opens up with plenty of optional stuff to go back and do as you go, especially in the post-game.

For this reasons, BW2 and Platinum are my favorites.

Did you ever even visit the lab on Cinnabar island? SOMEONE made Mewtwo. It's never stated in game that it WASNT Giovanni. So, maybe its only anime inspired head canon, but I see no reason to believe he wasn't involved.

I like the pokemon, and I've enjoyed every game in the franchise to some degree. Sun and Moon weren't my favorite entries, but I like or love almost every pokemon and form they introduced.
