I'm having a technical issue, and just want to see if it's happening for anybody else... when I try to log in the the game at home, I can't get passed the loading screen with the tyranitar. The loading bar just doesn't move, and I eventually get "login failed". When I play on 3g it works fine, it's just on Wi-Fi. Anybody else have a similar issue?

Downtown weekday raids in DC are fantastic and always have mid-30s and higher players in suits congregating outside a boarded-up Sprint. Weekend raids in DC have been completely hit-or-miss so far; sometimes there's eight people, sometimes there's no one.

The game is dead here, just drove past a tyranitar raid that had 0 people at it and the two pokemon I have on gyms are approaching their 4th day on those gyms.

For about 4 days the gym turnover was good, now it's more stagnant than ever, the only change is now only 6 pokemon are trapped and there's more 500cp shitmons sitting on them.

I've done mostly level 2 raids solo or with my gf and the rewards are fucking atrocious, we did a gengar raid to see if we could and both of us got 1 rare candy, 8 revives and a sub 80% gengar for our troubles, really makes me want to hand over 100 coins to do it again.

Niantic just can't make video games at all, what the fuck was TPC thinking handing it over to a bunch of morons from San Francucko?

Why did Niantic say that scanners are anti what Pokémon stands for? I mean, when I play the main series, I would literally go to places to catch something I was trying to breed or catch stuff to complete the pokedex.

The scanner worked for me because there is literally nothing around me. Every once in a while, I will get a Nidoran or a Marrill, but nothing other than that. It still requires people to show up to the raid, and that wont happen in areas where the game is not as popular as it used to be.

The only reason raids are slightly active at the moment is because people are trying to get a few more high CP evolved mons - once the hype from that dies down then meeting someone there will be impossible.

It's already difficult in areas due to people's work schedules mixed with other aspects - unless you can wait by a raid for the full hour chances are you wont spot anyone.

My entire neighbourhood is completely empty of gyms, stops, and pokemon.

So yesterday my gf and her son and I went into town to hit some pokestops and grab some water pokemon candy, and on a fairly isolated spot on the front we took a gym down and walked on. As we walked back, we saw the gym being taken, bit there was nobody else around. Nothing new there, no surprises, the three of us geared up to kick the spoofers (there were three of them with very similar names) back out. Only we couldn't.

Every time we beat one, it got fed enough berries to max it out again. And this happened again, and again, and again, and the pokemon were still up there last night at full strength despite 2 of them being over 3000cp. One or even three spoofers simply could not have kept up the berry game against the punishment the three of us were delivering, and not just us; other people arrived trying to take the gym too and to no avail. The only thing I can think is that some insert very bad word here has programmed dozens of bots to keep their pokemon in a gym no matter what. Anybody else come across this behaviour?

Can confirm this is a thing. Also there are several bot accounts seemingly programmed to take over a gym whenever it's taken.

I've encountered several, one of them is called 'MadMickJohns' and takes the same spots regardless of how many times it is taken or at what time of day.

Even allied with a few others and took down several of his gyms at the same time only for him to instantly have his Pokemon back in all of them at the same time.

If Gymhuntr ever recovers to full functionality again, you used to be able to check IVs by placing something in a Gym. It's the only non-ban-risk way of getting exact IVs that I know of.

People who do 3 or 4 level raids, how do you meet people to lobby with if the timer is only 100 seconds per lobby?

You can continuously quit out and retry until you see enough people in there.

If the timer hits 10 seconds left and I don't have enough help, I leave and wait a few minutes before trying again.

i mean, sure, they can release one generation a year but being as there's not much to do now? by the time gen 3 would release next year, the game would be completely dead. pretty much everyone who plays a consistent amount could have a nearly completed dex in a few more months time, many of us already do. its been 5 months since gen 2 was released, and its a smaller gen, so theres nothing more for us to do. gen 3 has a bit more to it, so that could keep people busy for up to 6-7 months. i really dont think incentive for playing an app more is asking for a lot from a company.

The game saves the gym for ten minutes for the person who defeated the gym, which the game might have interpreted as you and not your buddy. There's a relatively simple work-around, though:

>Go into your phone's settings, turn off the "automatically figure out the time" setting, and manually set the time on your phone to at least ten minutes into the future.
>Re-open Go. Place your Pokemon.
>Close Go.
>Put your phone back on normal time.
>Open Go again.

The final open-and-close might not be necessary, idk. But resetting the time on your phone to be ten minutes into the future and then reopening Go will let you place a Pokemon right after a gym is defeated.

I posted this before, but I figured I'd throw it out there again. Gyms are still very impersonal and bland to me. How well would a type lock/restriction gym be received? I'd like to setup water, fire, grass gyms etc. This may be a pain for Niantic, but maybe once players hit 40 they can setup their own gym that only they can insert mons into and if you defeat it (one time only) you get their badge.

Though i'd rather have that occur over Winter - that way even a tiny walk outside would grant you a new Pokemon (in theory) and Winter is normally the drop-off point for a lot of players.

Which Scyther do I evolve? only got one metal coat.
