Grass type + Lightning Rod makes it immune to powders and twave, so it can't be crippled except with niche shit like Glare. Its problem is it lacks offense, coverage, and can't pivot effectively. It also couldn't boost its offense reliably before Work Up in SM, but the jury is still out on that.

What the fuck are you even on about? Where in a Sceptile set do you have room to even run Work Up, first of all? A +1 attack boost is shit. I don't know if you know this, but it's exactly half as effective as a +2 attack boost but it has the same cost: one of your precious movepool slots.

Why would you ever fucking do that? You know off the bat that you need both your STABs and then you're going to need moves to hit the Steel-types that you can't reach with them. If you pick HP Fire then Heatran and Toxapex both force you out, and if you pick EQ then you can't do anything to Bulu, Tangrowth, or Skarmory. So what then? You already wasted a slot for Work Up so now you have an even shittier version of your shitty Mega that you're running for whatever shitty reason. I guess you can justify Work Up since it boosts EQ's damage but it's only really relevant against Heatran, who is OHKOed outright after SR anyway

At some point, having a stupid high speed stat becomes useless. At 110 base speed, you will outspeed just about everything else in OU that isn't a mega or using a scarf. Not only does its speed do absolutely nothing for it (except make it a somewhat decent revenge killer), but it's offensive stats are comparable to that of other megas, while having completely shitty defensive stats. If they wanted to make these super fast, low bulk mega mons (Beedrill/Sceptile) work, they should've given them much higher offensive stats. This goes without even mentioning the shitty movepool.
