It’s a leak of Gen 10. The region is based on a random field in the Rust Belt. My uncle’s father’s dentist is John Gamefreak so trust me.

Do you mean hints in-game, like how Alola was hinted at in XY?

i personally didn't notice anything hinting at Gen 8, though while defending your champion title, there's that Ryuki guy who is from another region from beyond the sea (said region is not specified).
Based on his dragon specialty and the emphasis on the colour red, it is speculated China is going to be the Gen 8 region.
