ITT: Post your favorite Gen I Pokemon and talk about why it's your favorite
I have to go with Blastoise. It's the first starter I ever picked, and even though I eventually used Charizard and Venusaur, my run with Blastoise was my favorite. I was one of those dumbass kids that had an overleveled Blastoise with 5 mons to sacrifice to keep it alive. I still felt pretty proud after getting into the hall of fame. Not a big fan of its Mega though. The hand cannons are too much for me.
Honorable mentions go to Slowbro and Vileplume.

Jolteon.
Fun as fuck to use because of it's speed and special attack (or just special in RBY), possesses my favorite attack of the game (Thunderbolt) and has the best type. Second favorite electric type Pokémon.

Blastoise is my favorite too.
I'm currently trying to breed perfect 5IV, 0 attack squirtle egg so I can hatch it in UltraMoon and use him as my "starter"

Venusaur for me, mostly because before I started playing Pokemon back in 98 a distant cousin of mine told me that Bulbasaur was the best for beginners and I ended up loving playing through the game with it.
Bulbasaur.
Because it's Bulbasaur, it sounds cool, it's the first Pokémon, I can do it's voice well and the design is great.
There's a lot of NFEs I really like like Meowth and Psyduck. Maybe it's just the anime influence but they're just really solid designs/concepts IMO.
Ninetails because its aesthetically pleasing. Can use solar beam in one turn. Has decent stats and it also has a great shiny form.
Mega Ninetails when?
I think magnemite is really cute, and 3 magnemite is even cuter
I love pinnipeds. A lot.

How do feel about Magnezone?

Have to agree. I love Jolteon aesthetically and I love to use it.

I disliked it for a while because my first impression was that it looked like a weird clown. I think the design is ok now and I see the appeal, but I prefer the prevos much more.

charizard, been my boi since my first game (fire red) first one i got to lv100. always loved his design, his mega too, well one of them, i think megazard-x is shit, y is fantastic tho

arbok cause why not having a poison snake as your best friend

Yellow was my first game but, even as a kid, I never really liked Pikachu, so Pidgey always felt like my true first Pokemon, my starter.
I loved Pidgeotto and Pidgeot's designs back then and I still do now.
Sandshrew, because it has the most aesthetically pleasing design of all Pokémon from the first generation.

Pidgey line is awesome
I like Bulbasaur and Pikachu, played Blue first, then Yellow

In a similar boat as both these anons, but I love mega blastoise. It's kind of like mega rayquaza, where it's so over the top and ridiculous I can't help but love it. Wish it was better.
Lickitung, dodrio, and arbok are up there, too. If we're counting Alolan forms, exeggutor is in my top 10 favorite mons ever.
Arcanine is and probably always will be my favorite pokemon design
ghost has always been one of my favorite types, and i didnt realize gengar existed since >tfw no trade friends
then i found out about gengar but it looked worse and had a worse cry
My first game was actually emerald, and at the time a mew event had come out at Toys R Us. I only had 7 badges, I didn't realize you needed to complete the game to get the national dex for the mew. I ended up almost crying and some 14(?) year old kid said he'd give me a golem to see if that "unlocked the national dex" or some shit. It didn't work, and I was gonna give him the Golem back, but he insisted I keep it as my own special mystery gift.
Raichu.
My first introduction into Pokémon was the anime. And the first episode I saw was the battle between Surge and ASH. Raichu was portrayed like a total badass, I thought it was so cool as a kid. I did get my first Pokémon game until Silver and to my luck I found out Pikachu wasn't available until post game. So with the help my cousin who already finished the game, traded me Pikachu, and that Raichu was the first Pokémon I trained to level 100. I eventually lost that copy of Silver as I got older, but every game since I've always used a Raichu in my team if it was available.
Also when I was a kid, I had a Raichu plush that was pretty much always by my side. Had it until I was 13.
