The last pokemon game I played

X was the last game I finished and I really did enjoy it even with everyone telling me I shouldn't. I'm liking Sun so far, but haven't finished it yet. My favorite playthroughs are definitely HGSS, BW, and BW2, though. I've played all of those games multiple times. my copies of Soulsilver and Heartgold are nearly broken though, and I can barely get them to work. Why did they have to be the ones to go? I don't want to spend 150 dollars replacing them ;-;

Since then, all the other games have felt like a chore to me, but I'm still drawn in by the new pokémon designs and the collecting aspect of it.

Platinum. Gens 3 and 4 were the apex for me

I liked every game in the series except gens 5 and 6. They just felt rushed and one sided to me.

I'll acknowledge that it had its flaws, but it was better than the steaming pile of horse shit that was Gen 6. (ORAS in particular since X & Y was a huge leap for the series and added many great features so I'll judge it less harshly on that basis.)

Moon. The Hoenn and Sinnoh games are the only ones I haven't enjoyed.

Platinum. Hands down my favorite Pokemon game, and the last one I enjoyed. Nothing has been able to top it.

If you mean main line, S&M was fine. It was nothing special but it was an okay game and an improvement over XY, even if it was a small one. Overall, I am currently playing Super Mystery Dungeon and it is fun! FUN!

What should I play?

Emerald, i played for almost 7 years until a relationship got in the way and i kind of forgot about it for a while. Memory of Emerald was what got me back into the Pokemon fad.

Played SuMo and the intense amount of cutscenes, large sections of pointless dialogue, uninteresting characters, boring and bland story telling and general shittyness has put me off buying a future Pokemon game.

Maybe we'll get a remake of Emerald one day i'll pick up that, or if i can find a good port for it in a good quality.

S/M has too many damn cutscenes. I couldn't slog through the first island without just quitting. I might pick it back up someday, but clover is way better and it's a stupid fangame.

Moon. I enjoyed it because it gave me everything I needed out of a Pokemon game.

I've played shitloads of JRPGs and VNs. I did not enjoy SM's cutscenes due to the fact that the characters are bland and uninteresting.

Seeing the same person/people every town I enter doesn't make for engaging story. It bores people to death having to sit through endless mounds of the same "hey anon, this place is really cool you should check it out xD" drivel.

Nailed it on the head for me. Used to be able to play Pokémon games for hundreds if not thousands of hours, and I still go back and replay GSC, RSE, DPPl, HGSS, FRLG, and BW2. But I just can't play the 3DS games that long. I lose interest around the 100 hour mark...which is still a respectable game time for a 40 dollar game, but the point still stands that they hold my interest less.

Never beat BW2 but i loved everything i played

Sun and moon because I enjoy the series and despite its flaws, it was still a great experience.

The color scheme was warm almost throughout the entire game and felt inviting
Breeding has never been easier with the discovered egg seed abuse
Competitive actually has some variety in mons played
