Honestly, I hope it's simultaneously both a third version AND A sequel.

I've always felt that a sequel staring a different character would feel very off, considering how integrated you are in the world, and a sequel would have to star the same protagonist. So I hope that the aftergame is basically what would be the sequel of the game.
