The only thing that made Steel too good was Fairy making it simultaneously the best Defensive type and an extremely desired Offensive type. It wasn't out of line before. In fact, having something that acted as a good blanket defense against most of the meta is important. You just cant also have it be amazing offensively.

Dark isn't broken, dont know why youre saying that. Its a great, neutral offensive type, but aforementioned Fairy dominance keeps it well in check. If not for Fairy, Fighting would.

Fairy was the real mistake.
