If you don't mind using some sort of emulator, Sacred Gold/Storm Silver is a difficulty hack that makes the level curve better.

You'll probably want to be using an emulator anyways if the Safari zone is your draw, it runs based on how much time you've played the game, iirc some features require hundreds of days.

i honestly only browsed the thread for like 45 seconds and posted this.

but i recently played oras for the first time, about a month ago, and i can tell you that the whole game felt super gimped to me. anything that isnt the delta episode (which was pretty cool ngl) was just a cakewalk with megas and legendaries even before the 6th gym. quality of life stuff was good and all, but the game was boring.
dont get me wrong, oras is an improvement to rs, but emerald totally eclipses oras and its 10 years older.

I'd like to bring in to comparison the speed of both games. As someone who just played through Gen 4, it's almost comical how much faster ORAS as a whole is then that whole generation. Scrolling through Gen 4's menu is like romping through a mud bog. May sound like a nitpick, but during the end game where the inventory is packed to the brim, it really becomes noticable.

I think ORAS is a better game than HGSS, with awesome content like Super Bases, DexNav, Soaring, etc that HGSS just lacks.

But the thing is, HGSS was a lot more competent as a remake, and ORAS is criticized due to how much wasted potential there is, especially regarding Emerald's content and XY character customization.

ORAS could have easily shared the best game ever spot with BW2, but they preferred to rush it and leave a fantastic game incomplete.

As a Hoenn fan, I don't think I will ever forgive Ohmori for this.

Eh, remakes are mostly made to just cash in on nostalgia. And I have a bit more nostalgia for RSE because those were better games than GSC in my opinion. I also had a hateboner for DS for some reason.

HGSS is polished as fuck and they crammed it full of features they didn't even need to like following pokemon, the brand new safari zone and the voltorb flip. Meanwhile the ORAS philosophy is just "lol get rid of it"

HGSS is how you do a 10/10 remake. Take everything from the originals, make it better, add extra stuff on top of it.
ORAS is how you do a 5/10 remake. Take the originals, except casualize it, remove features, and don't bother adding anything like customization from XY or gym leader rematches.

What can I say Msauda is a joke and thankfully is stepping down. I'm sorry he's a great composer nut how he and other guy have been handling things lately is insane. I get some things, but seriously? The BF is what made Emerald and the third gen games iconic, and this lack there of and the constant rehash of the battle tower and nothing else is annoying. The Chateau and Tree are pretty great don't get me wrong cause they are challenging, but do not have the variety the BF does outside different basic battle styles. Let alone the other stuff. Atleast they wished up and added cool features in SM like the alternate dimension, even if they should have done similiar things with ORAS like give Magma their hideout from emerald and have the opposite legendary for your game be like they were in emerald since every other legendary were in them.
