Well Japan has qualified for two cups in a row both in 2010 and 2014, I hope they do it this year too. Just to rub it in the shitters' faces. They need to realize that just because Pokemon isn't in the roster doesn't mean that it's a dead franchise. For all we know, they could be making an appearance with the life-sized moving Gundam in the opening ceremony. I can forsee a Pikachu march of epic proportions going on.

Mario showing up at Brazil could be a good indicator of Pokemon's inclusion in the actual event.

I think having Yokai Watch instead of Pokemon, seeing how YW turned out to just be a fad and is now on the decline and how Pokemon gained new steam is a perfect analogy for how myopic Japanese corporate and governmental leadership are.
