HG/SS are very highly rated among the majority of /vp/. Platinum as well, to my surprise. I didn't think many people enjoyed Gen IV as much as I did, since people always used to shit on it.

I guess opinions shifted after people realized it was all downhill afterward.
Or maybe people just want to act superior when D/P remakes get released.

Yo, kind of unrelated to this thread, but idk where to ask.
I'm just playing Omega Ruby for the first time. Is it still alive or am I screwed?

I want to buy my girlfriend a copy of HGSS because she wants to try playing Pokemon - she's so far only ever played Pearl and the TCG (she plays the TCG very regularly), so I think HGSS will be a good introduction to the series. But...that price tag. It runs like $60 in my country.

Playing a romhack https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=347879 that honestly makes the game a lot better. Feels like vanilla still, but the level curve and little changes make it so much more enjoyable.

Plan on ending up with Feraligatr, Raichu, Honchkrow, Girafarig, Heracross and Sudowoodo.
