Get Nidoking and Gyarados before you fight Misty, assuming you're on a new game.
>>32874225
use fast text speed, turn off battle scene, and turn battle mode to set
>>32874235
Yeah, I haven't fought Brock yet.
>>32874235
this
>>32874238
Also, what does the set battle style thing do?
>>32874243
if it's on set the game doesn't ask if you want to switch pokemon after you make one faint
>>32874235
Also, are the bug types in the viridian forest generally shit?
>>32874251
They're pretty good early game if you evolve them quickly enough but by the time you get to Cerulean City you might as well deposit them.
>>32874254
Alright then.
>>32874254
Sorry if I'm asking really obvious questions, I haven't played a main game since I was 12
>>32874225
I just spent like 20 minutes walking up and down Route 24 looking for an Abra in Yellow like I do in every FireRed playthrough I've done, but I forgot that they moved them to Route 5 in this game.

It's cool, we're here to help.
K
Try to not train too many Pokemon, get good type variation, battle every trainer for dem Exp.

Another question: If I were to switch out a pokemon during a battle, how is the EXP split, if at all?
>>32874298
EXP/n, where is n amount of Pokemon that took part in the battle
Then there is the case of EXP Share which complicates things.

>>32874312

To elaborate, from what I can tell, EXP Share when held by a Pokemon gives that Pokemon +50% of the battle EXP.
So if you have Pokemon A, B, and C battle, and D holds the Share, A, B, and C each get 1/6th of the EXP, and D gets 1/2.
If A, B, and C battle, and C holds the Share, A and B each get 1/6 and C gets 2/3.
However, if A holds the Share and is the only one who battles, A gets 150% EXP.
>>32874340
So the one holding the share gets more EXP?

Butterfree is good through the whole game in Leaf Green because of compoundeyes sleep powder. You can even meme a bit with Dream Eater.

They kinda suck but they can still work out. They won't be your MVP but they can still be fun to use if you like them
