As much as I'd like to say it's trolling, I just want my gold gym badges so I'm going to dump my Nanab Berries whenever possible, and I'm not going to wait on the sidewalk for a spoofer to come by and kick everyone out. Until somebody finishes going over the new changes and lists a better option for gaining gym badge exp that isn't the +100 for putting in a defender, I'm probably going to keep feeding teammate Pokemon whenever possible.

Niantic designed the new system to discourage stable gyms and deflect criticisms of "stale" gameplay/meta. Since the coin rate is +1 coin every 10 minutes, you probably want to put defenders into active gyms that keep getting contested multiple times a day (but not like, instantly) instead of spoofing out into the countryside where nobody plays.

I went to NYC today. I got a Tyranitar and a Machamp from raids. With my Pokemon Go+ I was constantly catching Pokemon while also somehow gaining Pokeballs. I also got:

I just got it last week and it completely changed the game for me.
I have been discarding great and ultra balls because I don't need them for raids and don't need many in general.
Berries are such a non-issue now. Even with the new gyms, I toss berries in there like a blender and still end up discarding some most nights.
Hatching, catching and hitting stops is like 90% of outdoor gameplay. I can go out, hatch a 5km and come home with 50 new Pokemon, tens of new items and balls, and still have over 80% battery.

It's a cool little device and a major advantage. I definitely recommend it to anyone that wants to take the game seriously.

so what's a better way to farm for dust now that they've fucked the gym up? aside from catching every fucking mon on site

Raids randomly appear at gyms. What appears at the gym is also random. There are three kinds of eggs that pop up on top of the gym tower, Pink, Yellow, and (community guess) Blue. Pink have class 1 and 2 bosses. Yellow have class 3 and 4 bosses. Blue (again, this is the community guess) have class 5, legendary bosses.

When the egg appears, there's a countdown timer of 2 hours. Once the timer gets to 0 the egg explodes and the boss is revealed. The boss sticks around for 1 hour. When you arrive, you can battle it at the cost of a raid pass. That buys you access to the boss until it expires. You can battle it (and lose) as many times as it takes until you can beat it.

If you're there with a group, have everyone join the raid "lobby" at the same instant to make sure they're all in your raid team. If the countdown timer in the lobby is less than 30 seconds, wait until that one has reached zero and re-enter. It should give you about two minutes to pick your teams.

Once you start your battle don't waste time dodging if you can't deal lots of damage. Just sit and take it. If all of your team gets knocked out, exit the battle. Make sure you have one player sit and dodge like crazy until you can re-enter.

If you beat it, you get rewards like golden razzberries, quick/charge TMs, rare candies, and healing items. After you get your rewards, you get a set number of premier balls you can use to catch the boss mon. Depending on how much damage your team did, you can get extra balls to use to catch it. Either you catch it, or run out of balls. If you run out, it runs away.

When you exit, there's a victory banner on top of the gym instead of a boss.

I walked my machop for nearly a month. I have two 94% Machamps. I spent more time pumping my Jolteons to take down Dragonites. They're fast and have really good attack power. Two of them at 2200 cp can wreck a 3k blissey. I've been playing the long game of powering up specific single-type mons for type matchup vs blowing all my dust on the big seven. I'm glad I did.

1. No, because the CP gets reduced after every win, you don't even need as many Revives as you used to.

Have you actually bothered to feed an allied gym even once?

After the first couple berries, the CP gains drop to like +10 CP after the first 2-3 berries and after a few berries, you can't feed them for a little over 15 minutes even if the heart isn't full precisely to prevent it from being so easy to hold a gym. Gyms are weaker in general now. It's easier to pump up a gym from 0 to 36 fights instantly now sier (instead of 0 to 6 under the old system) but it's also easier to take down a 6-man gym than a 50k prestige gym.

The rework is still new so most people don't know how to play so they'll keep feeding the allied Pokemon for a while and huddle in their safe zones but once they realise that they need active competition to get anything out of it, they're going to start attacking other gyms more because attacking the gym is more a favour to the enemy team than not and pray that the enemy team will do the same to them.

My cutoff is 90% (specifically 91.1%).

I have 1000 storage and I'm persistently running out of storage space because of how many Pokemon I have. I am constantly floating between 900 and 1000 depending on when I dumped my Pidgeys, and that's after considering the fact that I only keep ones higher than 90% because I get so many 88% shitmons. Most of them are from eggs in case you're wondering. I've been playing since launch and walk to work every day so I get a lot of miles in and hatch 2-3 eggs on my off days when I just sit around at home instead of gym crawling or farm dust+spins.
