there are two canon universes in pokémon, the original one and the current one with mega evolution and all this other crazy stuff
Looker, in the original universe was somehow transported to the mega universe, suffering amnesia in the process (pic related), so there's actually two lookers in this universe. The old man is actually the original universe looker in disguise (just like the old man with the same sprite at the beginning of the post game was mega looker), still suffering from amnesia even now
