it was the gen before the ps split, and almost every pokemon had stats that balanced its types
for instance, cacturne is grass and dark. in gen 3, grass was physical only and dark was special only. since they had to balance the attacks, they couldnt put more into hp or speed

To be fair, mixed attackers can be viable, and it make them versatile. Just not slow and frail ones. If a pokemon has to be slow and frail, at least give it a stupid good movepool

They should redistribute all gen 1-3 mons stats for this reason. Just small changes to make them viable against the power creep.

literally the only reason I wanted the battle frontier was so we'd see the battle pike and maybe mega seviper
it's stats are JUST enough that +100 wouldn't even save it unless at least 40 went into speed
