Of course it's being worked this very minute, it's been for months because that's how vidya industry works. (remember when gf was looking for a guy to modelize hd models ? it has started at least from there)
Also it's gf, they fuck up everything they touch.

It'll be like Gen VII but with better environments, prettier graphics, a few new features, a new region and story, and with 50~100 new Pokemon
