Go for something more morphologically ray-like and just have it float in a classically Draculesque menacing way, maybe exploiting shading to present the outline of a cloak without actually using a bipedal figure.

You could do a Werewolf/Wolf-man+Wolf Spider, but the fire type would have to be kind of tacked on at that point.

Not a classic horror monster, but a Xenomorph-inspired thing could also work. Just swap out the acidic blood for magma blood or something and it works well enough. Aside from that I can't really think of anything beyond the generic old "Giant Bug" that fits with fire/bug.

So, in an old thread I posted my starters for feedback, and a vast majority really hated the one with a red X, with some of the comments relating to it being really ugly and unfitting.

In response, I ended up trying to do the opposite, and redesigned it to be more like a fancy duck or something. Only problem I have with it is it has a slight delphox look to it, but not too much for me to care.

Is it okay now? Or should I do something else

Here's my idea for a second evo

Basically its tail and ears have rocky hard mud on it from digging so much, which also servers as protection and leaves a trail for them to follow (old dirt types and scent being taken through new tunnels)
Its coat is a little shaggier, also a result of dirt build up, which is more protective for it (more defensive evo)

The lil cutie lost its eyesight tunneling so much, and now relies a lot more on its bigger nose

Yeah I like this one

But I was thinking more of the fighting aspect between it and a badger pokemon that would also be two stages

The first stages are best friends but when they both evolve they hate each other and would fight to the death

They would both call each other in sos battles and would use things like helping hand during first stages but would then attack each other during second stages (like zangoose in a seviper hoard or corsola and mareanie)


Also it's fire ice because it's based off of dry ice which is so cold it burns to touch it and that's why there's so much steam around it

Sqweak and Baltup need work. If you're open to CC, you should experiment with body types. Look at Pokemon like Raticate, Diggersby, Lycanroc and Mightyena. Their body shapes are completely different from their pre-evos, but you can still tell they're related.
