I'd take it if it the rest of the region underwent dramatic changes, like what happened to Cinnibar and Lavender town in Gen 2.
So, basically turning it into a new game.

The only reason I'd see to do it would be if they were totally revamping the franchise, going back to basics Breath of the Wild-style with a gigantic fully explorable Kanto.

I want FR/LG with HG/SS as the post-post game with new megas and shit
