Instead they implied there's an impoortant reason why Zygarde is there and on top of that the SM manga is meant to focus around Zygarde. The author often gets info from GF beforehand so its very likelly Zygarde is yet to play a role in Alola

It's pretty clear that Guzzlord is a kind of counterpart of Zygarde, but at same time Necrozma has been portrayed as the actual third legendary of Alola and it have other similarities with Zygarde

I knew Necrozma was about to show some capacity of absorb UBs, because both Necrozma and Guzzlord fits as Zygarde's rival in the next game so the best rival isn't either Necrozma nor Guzzlord but both at same time. Necrozma is a black hole which absorbs the planets (the UBs, Solgaleo and Lunala included) and it will collide with the guardian of Earth, Zygarde.

It wouldnt make sense for Zygarde to take any action in SM. Solgaleo and Lunala are very peaceful deities, they mean no harm, they dont go out of control.

Ultra Wormoholes were in Alola in the past aswell so its also not much out of the ordinary. The Tapus fought the UBs that aappeared and later on the international police and the player catched them. There was no point for Zygarde to do anything

However Looker said he saw a wierd Pokemon floating in the air. Necrozma was supposed to be asleep underground for a long time. Its possible all the wormholes woke it up

Sounds like a bigger threat than the peaceful Solgaleo and Lunala. And now imagine how much worse it can get if he fuses/uses Solgaleo and Lunala power to get even stronger

are you dumb or what? zygarde is literally in alola and it just had the xy&z arc in the anime, it hasn't had a game yet but game freak are hyping it up, it even has new signature moves. zygarde has five colours, red, orange, white, light blue, dark blue. that's yveltal, solgaleo, zygarde, lunala and xerneas. it all comes together.

Now SM is going to be about the sun and moon, the logos have eclipses and Zygarde keeps things in order.

What if Necrozma is meant to broken apart and worn as armor by Zygarde, either by way of fusion or some sort of symbiotic relationship, but because Zygarde wasn't ready in time, it went for Nebby instead? The game could be about the Ultra Beasts actually being a threat this time, which woke up Necrozma and eventually ends up being worn by the box legendary. This isn't enough, Nebby is beaten, MC deus ex machinas up a 100% Zygarde (there will be a key item that summons all the zygarde bits and scatters them for post game content or something like that), Zygarde and Necrozma voltron it up and defeat the ultra beasts.
