Thoughts to improve this-

Asymmetric eyes, a black patch around one?
Steel type? Perhaps the topmost feather on each wing could be silver and curve upward like a cutlass?
Ragged tail feathers with a white pattern going up the back evoking a pirate flag?
A ruff of feathers around the face evoking a beard?
Tends to stand on one leg with the other folded up, giving it a "peg leg" appearance when perched?

The main problem I have with most Sage Pokémon is that they're often based on really cool concepts, but the actual execution of the concepts is as boring as it can get, to the point that the actual animal or thing that the Pokémon is based on ends up being more interesting.

In fairness, Aguanaut line was a clusterfuck to design since half the problem was depicting the salt armor in a way where people didn't assume it was water/ice and also depicting a fighting type as well.

That thing went through design hell, but you are right on some of the designs getting through with boring execution of concept. Some of the pokemon were voted in because they had great art or were cool looking, some got in because of interesting concepts.

It's a valid problem but don't forget that it was /vp/-voted through so you're dealing with a great deal of people with horrible taste and no idea what's going on.

Torkoal is a coal-based steam engine and Flarrapin is a snapping turtle/kaiju.
Comossus is based off of the robots from Nausica the Laputa.
Chameleohm is a different species of chameleon.
You're not wrong about the golems.
Ankillosore is more of an ankylosaur-horned lizard hybrid. Nidoking is rabbit+kaiju.

It's literally meant to be a Digimon. In that respect I genuinely like it, it's a neat idea to make Digimon versions of fully evolved 'mons. Garchomp or Steelix would look awesome
