Happened to me once in SoulSilver through (mostly) pure luck:
>female typhlosion (1/8 chance)
>female golem, gengar and scizor (1/2 chance each)
>female kangaskhan and jynx, who obviously have to be female

The odds are pretty slim, but it can happen. People who go out of their way to get an all-female team are a completely different matter though.

If I breed Pokemon, and end up with a female that's perfect and a male that's perfect, I will choose the female. Substantially greater chance to pass on abilities. It's just more practical. Always nice to have an imperfect male version if there are any egg moves, in case I want to use them for that later.

Usually I use the gender that makes to most sense for that pokemon, male machamp for example.
I also try to keep a good balance between male/female/genderless so 2 of each on my team is always my goal but it's not always possible depending on the region etc..
