What is the hardest Pokemon game in your opinion?

Any Hoenn or Sinnoh game. I've never been able to beat one. They're such boring shit that I can't force myself to finish them

This way: Easy (Exp. All), Normal (Exp. Share), Hard (No Exp. Modifier), Very Hard (Final Difficulty. No using Pokemon Centers, No Exp. Share/All, No Lucky Egg, No Amulet Coin, No Traded Pokemon, Eggs for a potential team may not be hatched into a fresh file, No Shiny Charm, Blacking Out = Restart, In-Game Glitches may not be manipulated, every Pokemon caught must be nicknamed)

Reminder that Exp All can be changed mechanically into the Exp. Share by having only 2 Pokemon in your party. Depending on which difficulty level you're playing, you can use the Exp. All in this fashion.

RBY primarily because increasing numbers of accessibility features have been added over time and those games, being the first, had the least.

That said, I could still beat them when I was 9 so it's not as though the series has ever been hard.

Modern games aren't so bad if you disable the Exp. Share features, now if only you could opt out of constant NPC healing they might be a bit more of a challenge. (The option to skip tutorials would also be great for veterans/replays, but that isn't increasing difficulty so much as removing early game tedium.)

SM with Exp Share off was actually a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. Other than that, it's pretty easy to get cucked in the original GS because of the weird level gaps between trainers and wild Pokemon

Grinding isn't hard, it's just boring as shit.
All it does is pad the gameplay length. The entire reason the Exp. Share exists is so that you don't have to waste your time on that shit. It isn't "making the game easier" if you can reach that experience without it. It's just cutting out unecessary grinding.

Also SM was also pretty hard without and especially if you like me had a huge weakness against some types, but the AI was a little bit more retarded compared to XY.

BW was hard but not thaat hard. It was just you knew that gymn leaders always used 2 potions or something like that.

Emerald. XY without EXP share is just a meme. It leaves you underleveled, but if you level back up, it's easy as shit again. Emerald doesnt really give a fuck about your level. There's a couple of gym leaders where you have to grind 5 levels above them or just get new Pokemon to have a chance at beating them. Not to mention, Emerald has the battle frontier and all the wacky sludge swallowing shenanigans there.

This, they have everything covered, including hold items. If there's at least one gym you don't have SE moves for you'll instantly realize that they have a strategy for all situations.

I've never been overleveled at any Emerald gym and for the most part they're all easy. Juan and Wallace, maybe Tate/Liza can give some issues but the entire game is easy otherwise.

Replaying RBY upon the VC re-releases made me realize those games are easy and in no way hard at all. Provided you have any fucking concept of RPGs and think of certain areas are more dungeons than places to explore, than those early titles are nothing to write home about.

Some of the later games in the terms of gym battles and E4 are harder than the cakewalk of Gen 1.

No using centers is dumb. Even the hardest RPG has an Inn.
Rest is great, I'd love to see it in a romhack or something
