ORAS is better in pretty much every way except difficulty, but if you're playing Pokemon for difficulty you're doing something wrong.

Not for me, I played XY after SM, SM was a bore fest with even more cutscenes, more friends I didn't care about. The pokemon variety seemed like shit too. I probably will never go back and finish it and I doubt USUM will fix it.

I'm trying to think of the advantages both games have. Overall, I think ORAS wins.

Always preferred ORAS. Never got the appeal of XY, because muh new content? tough to defend when said content either sucked, was mediocre, or in ORAS anyways. Delta episode (despite it sucking at first before that great payoff) was more memorable than XY's entire plot.

ORAS is better than XY, but not that much.

ORAS wasn't a lazy romhack made in 6 months so yeah.
They're actually about the same if you've never played RSE.
