Why is everyone so much better at making Pokemon games than Gamefreak?

The first two games are handled by devs that have far more experience in making games than GF.

GF hit the lottery with a formula that people couldn't get enough of.

Ok, this one was actually pretty decent, all it and Gales of Darkness needed were actual routes and gyms, then it could've been god tier.

GF are kind of shitty developers. From a design standpoint, only Gen 1 and 2 weren't handholdy, which was probably due to technical limitations. As technology progressed, they kept treating the players like small mildly retarded children because they know they're not competent enough to make good level design. Compare each Gen's first few minutes of Gameplay and other design (like how SM mark where you need to go or other awful game design mistakes) and you can definitely see how poor the design of the game has gotten.
Other developers on the other hand don't treat their audience like they're sperm since they know how to design games.
