Mewtwo is a fighting machine. Through genetic engineering things like its precision, speed of reaction, and whatever else makes up general combat proficiency has been optimized. Destroying its enemies and conserving energy when there are no enemies to be found are the only things Mewtwo can think of.

While Arceus may have some manner of reality warping power, there is nothing to suggest that it's a skilled combatant. Calling it "God" isn't an argument and doesn't prove anything by itself.

One only has to look at Pokedex descriptions to see how the gameplay is utterly segregated from the lore.


In a typical JRPG, you'd have the mythical/legendary beings having some immunities or abilities that correspond to their position in the lore.

But in Pokemon the gameplay is utterly restrictive because of the multiplayer component, so a Hyperspace manipulator like Hoopa-U gets trapped by a fucking Dugtrio, even though it can fly into Hyperspace.

Well even if it COULD do that (which everytime the game mentions it can, its deliberately spoken of as a myth, not actual fact), having a specific ability doesn't make it the strongest.

Water pokemon spray endless amounts of water out of their mouths. You could make some psuedo scientific argument about how they have enough energy to crash and merge all matter around them and instantly transform it into water. But that's not the case. Same applies to Arceus.

Arceus and co are never actually called gods but they've demonstrated enough power to fuck the universe regardless. Palkia and Dialga can destroy the universe if they choose and Giratina can do the same (albeit not as direct).

I don't know if Arceus can destroy universes though. It can create them and spawn Dialga/Palkia/Giratina as a result but I forget if it can destroy them.
